MEGATRON #2

Love seeing stuff like this, especially when they bring up the Cowboys game. I think I'll skip my daily trip to redtube and just spank one off to this instead!!

excited

Only thing Millen ever got right.

THANK GOD!!!

He is like Barry...the chance for us to watch the best ever.   Sorry Jerry Rice...he is the best ever even if he doesnt play long enough to match your career totals

Re: MEGATRON #2

This is why I love Calvin Johnson.

Humble and says "We need to win a Super Bowl"

And he is better than Jerry Rice ever was...just hasn't done it as long and may never do it.

This is exactly right. I always tell my kids not to take watching Calvin for granted because, like Barry, one day he will be gone. You never know when that day is going to come.

I thought he had a chance to get 1.

I wasn't old enough to truly appreciate Barry the way I have with Calvin.

Hard to argue against Manning with his record setting year.

And his team played in the Super Bowl

But CJ being #2 is an amazing statement of his greatness.

Re: MEGATRON #2

I enjoyed watching the after interview with CJ....then...we got the after banter with Cocaine Irvin and Pion Sanders. They were taking the interview guy to task for "daring" to say that he felt that CJ was the second best WR in history behind Jerry Rice right now. Irvin accused him of kissing CJ's butt because he was interviewing him and how he hadn't won anything, and he had all those SB rings so... To which the guy curled into a shell instead of saying: Michael, were you 6'5? No, were you 236? No, could you run a 4.35 40? No, could you jump 43"? No, did you have 5 200+ yard game? No, did you ever have a 300 yard game? No, did you ever have a 1,900 yard season? No.

The Pion chimed in to explain how it was sooooo much harder for Irvin and Rice to put up CJ like numbers playing for the Cowboys and 49ers because gee look at all the other great players they had like Emmitt Smith and Craig/Watters... again the guy curled into a ball instead of saying: So is Matt Stafford as good as Troy Aikman and Montana and Young? No. Did defenses double and triple Rice and Irvin DUE to the fact that those other teams had fantastic running games and other weapons not named Kris Durham?? No. Did you win those SB rings by yourself Michael and Jerry?? No. So basically I really wish I was sitting on that panel and not the little beotch too intimidated by Pion and Caine to push back on their crap knocks on CJ. Sorry Michael but you weren't NEAR the WR CJ is. Rice at this point can say that, but if Rice and CJ are on the same team, CJ would be drawing the double coverage, not Jerry even in his prime.

Let me guess.  You aren't here for the Alcohol or Tobacco...

Re: MEGATRON #2

Calvin is a far superior WR to Irvin. Yes Irvin has those Superbowl rings but those were team efforts if ever there was one. The Cowboys were stacked and he was just a small part of that.

Rice on the other hand is a scratch with Calvin. The two best WR's of all time. That will be one of the debates that go down a decade or more from now, just like the Brown, Payton, Sanders debate.

I get the feeling that if Irvin played for the Lions and won 3 Super Bowl and Calvin played for the Cowboys having never even won a playoff game you would be making the argument that Irvin is better.

So Willie who do you think is better, Irvin or Calvin? Because regardless of personal agenda Calvin smokes Irvin out of the water... In all reality it shouldn't even be a discussion.

They got there, mainly because of Manning

Megatron's team didn't make the playoffs,

But yea, the Broncos got their azz handed to them worse than about any Super Bowl except the one where Dallas destroyed Buffalo.

Maybe you missed this statement above...

"So is Matt Stafford as good as Troy Aikman and Montana and Young? No."

Sorry dude, if you think Michael Irvin is better than CJ, I must strongly disagree.  He was good and he was physical.  He's a HOFer, but CJ is taller, faster, can jump higher and has put up numbers Irvin hasn't touched.  All that with inferior talent around him.  So much so that defenses have done much different things to defend CJ than they did with Irvin or frankly any other WR.

CJ has played 53 fewer games than Irvin.  He has 1 more TD than him.  Has 12 more 20+ yard catches than him.  Has 4 more 40+ yard catches than him.  Averages 13.1 more yards per game than him.  Is a better more classy citizen than him.  Irvin played with a better QB, a significantly better running game, better TE, better #2 WR, against slower, less athletic defenders that spent a lot less effort trying to stop just him than any team that has ever suited up against Calvin Johnson.  Do I love my Lions?  Yes.  Is CJ my favorite Lion since Barry?  Yes.  Do I have man love for him?  Yes.  Is he better than Michael Irvin at this point in his career?  Yes.  I have eyes, so yes.

Let me guess.  You aren't here for the Alcohol or Tobacco...

I agree.  CJ has put up numbers Irvin can only drool at when the entire defenses is geared up JUST TO STOP HIM because there was no other threat.   Stafford is often going to CJ and everybody on the planet knows it and they still can't stop him

I like Willie, but lately your whole MO has been to target Lion's fans and just say for eg: "if he played for a different team you wouldn't say that" Not enough football talk in those types of discussions imo.

Daniel Jeremiah put it best when he said, and I'm paraphrasing here. That "Calvin Johnson is thee most uncoverable receiver to ever play the game".

If you are a Lions' fan and say anything too positive about them you are a homer and biased.

That's not completely true.  I  am as critical of this team as you can get because they have kicked me in the nuts so many times by not playing up to their potentienal, but I am in this thread saying Megatron is the GOAT at WR

It's when people try to say things that are just stupid about our players like claiming Stafford is an Elite QB or Delmas was a getting robbed by not being in the Pro-Bowl or Pettigrew was worth the #20OA pick that they are being homer's and biased.
