Theo Riddick getting alots of love!!

http://www.mlive.com/lions/ind...it_lions_r.html

I'm looking forward to see how this all translates with Pads, and preseason games; obviously leading up to the opener with the Giants!!

After the Patrick Edwards fiasco, I refuse to pay any attention to this. He is a scrub until he actually does something in the regular season.

Love the references about Theo being Hawaii bound in a couple years... rolleyes

Why don't we start with him doing something in a game.

He'll go from hype to bench to unemployed in about 2 games.

Yeah I will temper my excitement until the pads come on.

I do think Riddick is a lock to make this roster though, regardless if he is the next Reggie Bush or Hawaii bound.

That would follow tradition LOL tongue

The guy that gets the most hype before the pads come on usually sucks the worst in the season.

It's kinda the Lions version of the Madden Cover Jinx

Last year it was Slay, Bentley the year berfore that...all these OTA wonders in shorts seem to fade away when the actual games start bored1

Sounds like he has definately done what it takes to get the coaches attention and Bell better get well or he might be like the guy that took a day off and gave Lou Gerhig a chance to start.

But "Hawaii Bound" was a little much...

After this kind of hype he is a sure bet to blow out his achillies NOT catching a punt....

Looking forward to seeing the kid play in preseason. Probably will be against the scrubs, but hey, show me something. Reggie better do a better job of holding onto the rock this year, if Riddick is anywhere near as good as the hype.

LOL I was thinking the same thing when I was reading through the thread.  I think at this point in a Lions' fan career words mean little and action means much more.

I think he is going to play a nice little role in our O this season, I am looking forward to that.

Re: Theo Riddick getting alots of love!!

He was a perfect example of the predictability of the previous regime. When they brought him in they gave him the ball. Well, our OL wasn't as bad as they looked when Riddick got the ball, the other team keyed on him so instead of using him as a decoy. I honestly thought to myself, "Jesus, who knows what we got here because they were in the backfield when he got the ball." I also think that getting Matt under center and letting the RB's get a step or two before they get the ball will help. Now a blocking back who will get used that way, I see good things for the running game. Riddick doesn't have to step up, we just need the guys we have to maintain the game they brought last year.

I don't see a role for Theo unless there's absolutely no plans for using LeShoure and Bush or Bell get hurt.

Are you really planning on taking snaps away from Bell or Bush for this kid?

We finally get some decent RB's and now we want to give the ball to a 6th round slow sophomore.....good plan IMO!

tongue

i hope he finds a way to contribute too.

I just still am stunned by Broyles suffering a season ending injury waiving a fair catch and then stepping away from the ball?????

I mean I have heard of non-contact injuries but usually they are a guy running full out and making a a cut or something???

Never saw a guy get hurt that bad faking a fair catch....

It seems like every year the people they are hyping are the ones that get hurt or just plain suck

Sporty is right though.  Talk is cheap.  Just Win Baby...for a change

The Saints offense utilized 3-4 RBs with no problem.  I don't think Reddick is going to be on the field every snap...but last season the Saints had Thomas (50% of the O snaps), Sproles (31%), Ingram (15%), and Khiry Robinson (6.5%)...plus Travis Cadet played 11 snaps (1%).  2012 was sort of the same: Sproles at 40%, Thomas at 35%, Ingram at 24%, and Chris Ivory at 6%.

Riddick played about 4% of the offensive snaps last season, and I have a feeling a good portion were split out and not as a RB.

One of those decent backs we have is Joique Bell, an undrafted free agent that bounced around from numerous teams and ran a 4.71 40 at the combine...Theo Riddick had a 4.68 40 the combine.

I think Riddick will likely be on the field more split out than in the backfield at this point and time, especially when our 3rd WR spot is an open competition.

Re: Theo Riddick getting alots of love!!

Agree, but running backs go down at frighteningly high rate.  And Bush is what, 30 now?  And he was dinged up pretty good a few times last year.  Bell is coming off of a surgery, albeit minor.

LeShoure and Riddick are good insurance.  Nothing more, nothing less, at the moment.
