Stafford and Megtron the best WR/QB Duo?

According to NFL total access they are.

http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-...ideos_qbwrcombo

The fan vote had them at #2 with Romo and Bryant at #1.

Thanks for the vid. Stafford isn't exactly chop liver, but let's be honest.. if you pair a dozen or so other QB's with Megatron, then they become the best duo in the league just as well. Calvin is that good.

*Suh, Megatron & Best*

major shocker to me was seeing Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson ABOVE Peyton Manning....in anything like this.

Calvin deserves to be there.  Stafford is there because of Calvin.  Sorry, but I am not sold on Stafford.  Strong arm and occasional heroics, but I would take Nick Foles over Stafford.

Just my opinion, and hope Stafford proves me wrong all the way to the Superbowl.

Just curious, you're sold on Nick Foles after one season? Were you sold on Stafford after 2011 or did you say "He's gotta do this more than just one season?"

Rodgers and whoever
Brady and anybody
PManning and some guy
Nameless QB and Calvin Johnson

Those would be my top 4 duos

Exactly! I am shocked at how underrated and under appreciated Matthew Stafford is to Lions fans. Stafford is a top 10 QB in the NFL to me and really has more potential than any QB in the NFL IMHO. When you consider the Arm, the smarts, and the ability to lead, it would take ALOT for me to give up Matthew Stafford.

Fear  I LOVE having Stafford, best QB we've ever had, I pull for the kid every year, I realize it's not always on Matt we lose...but on occasion he contributes.

I'm one of the biggest Stafford supporters, and defend him until I'm blue, but I know he had things to work on to.
I'll never give up on Stafford, but NOW.....

he has the RB's, he has the TE's/WR's and weapons, and-he supposed to be getting help....so when he makes mistakes NOW.....well it's going to be REAL ugly, the comments and statements, opinions.

I'm pulling for him now, more than ever, but the microscope is on friend....and for Stafford it's back to the lab again in 2014 and probably going forward.

God help us if we don't get to a playoff again soon. biggrin

serious question? where will we stand after CJ is gone?   will we fall again?

Look, I like Stafford and think he is the best QB I have seen in a Lions jersey.  But I really want to see him translate stats (which he has some impressive stats) into wins.  I agree it isn't all on him.  But he needs to close the gap between the really good (which he is) and the elite (which he hasn't been yet).  He has all the tools and plenty of weapons.  Time for him to shine.

No question. Could other QB's have similar success with CJ? Probably, but that isn't the question. Bottom line is CJ does not throw the ball to himself. He didn't turn anyone else he played with into a star.

Let me guess.  You aren't here for the Alcohol or Tobacco...

I think even Lions ownership agrees that it's time for Stafford to shine. Hence the new QB centric coaching staff and dynamic weapons we picked up in FA and the draft. (Tate and Ebron)

May as well add Pickna to this list.

in 2006 WITHOUT Calvin Johnson....4208 yards, 21 TDs, 22 INTs
in 2007 WITH Calvin Johnson....4068, 18 TDs, 20 INTs

good to hear.  from what i've seen on this board, you and VLG have been stafford's staunchest supporters.  but even you guys are saying that he has no more excuses.  it's the one silver lining from the ebron draft pick.  at least no one will be saying it's not stafford's fault

If he sucks again this season it will be because he doesn't have a solid #3 running back, and starting caliber #4 WR or some other excuse that seems to be out there every year.
