Rob Parker on "Clubhouse Confidential"...

Posted: 6/9/2014 11:52 AM

Rob Parker on "Clubhouse Confidential"...

suggests that something is brewing with Suh - likely on the trade front.

Anyone talk to his CWPF's to see if this is just typical Parker blowhard or if there is a modicum of truth to it

I would tend to think blowhard but every day that goes be without a restructuring suggests to me a deal is not getting done and the Lions may cut bait at some point and take pennies (er draft picks) on the dollar.

It's really difficult to take anything Rob Parker says seriously.

That being said, If the Lions could find some trade value for Suh, it wouldn't shock me if they moved him.  Clearly, this guy isn't coming back.   I think it has been moving toward him leaving one way or another since that accidental "2 More years" tweet by his sister.

Rob Parker = 99% BS.

1% reserved for him being right by coincidence.

Does Suh want to spend the rest of his career in Detroit?  His recent actions, along with his sisters "2 more years" tweet make me think he does not....

Re: Rob Parker on "Clubhouse Confidential"...

What about the OTA speech, basically he said he's here by choice, came here to win a championship and build a down program, he's following the same pattern as previous years (skipping voluntary camp) and does not consider himself a captain until his teammates elect him etc etc.

Nothing Suh has done or said suggests he wants out.  But yeah, go by a three year old tweet by his sister??

If there is a trade it will be because the Lions want it not Suh.  Right now Suh and McCoy are BOTH working on extensions, which makes sense since they were drafted fifteen minutes apart and will probably get roughly similar deals.  I would guess Suh will get a tad more when it's all said and done.

Redwing,

I feel like the Suh and McCoy deals are/will hold each other up.

That being said, what's the rush? He will make roughly what he's making now, if not more. The cap relief some media have suggested won't exist because they don't realize half of this years charge for Suh is dead money.

Re: Rob Parker on "Clubhouse Confidential"...

I am 100% in the belief that this is complete BS.

One look at his cap hit and any idiot can see there's absolutely no way the Lions will trade him. Their paying him anyways this year.

If they trade him what do you really think we would get? A second rounder maybe?

We're guaranteed a 3rd rounder if he leaves via FA next year...

So why not let him just play.

It would be like the Lions paid 22 mil to move up in the draft from round 3 to 2.

Hopefully the Lions are smart and let this guy walk after the season, last thing this team needs is another mega contract especially on a DT.

Oh by the way what have the Lions won with Suh, absolutely nothing.

+1000.. If you look at DT's salaries league wide the only true contending team that pays a DT are the Pats and they only pay Wilfork 5.5 a year. Suh had 1 sack in the last 7 games. I am tired of hearing about how disruptive he is, you pay for production.

Suh had more sacks in his rookie season that Wilfork had in his first seven combined.

I saw a recent article that Suh had told his agent Jimmy Sexton to get a deal done.  A trade at this point is an extreme loser for us, unless we are trading straight up for Patrick Peterson or Richard Sherman.  Picks at this point do absolutely nothing for us.  You'd think if things were this bad, then we would have really tried to make a deal during the draft.  Then we'd know we were losing him and maybe you take Aaron Donald or something.  I don't think anything is "clear" at this point.  There are tons of examples of big contracts taking awhile to get done.  Rob Parker??  The dude is always trying to stir up drama and is almost always wrong.

Let me guess.  You aren't here for the Alcohol or Tobacco...

Good insight.

Top ten NFL team 2013 sack leaders:

1) Carolina
2) Buffalo
3) St. Louis
4) New Orleans
5) New England
6) KC
7) Arizona
8) Green Bay
9) Seattle
10) Cinci

7 Playoff teams

Bottom 10:

23) SD
24) Tampa
25) Dallas
26) NYG
27) Pittsburgh
28) Detroit
29) Atlanta
30) Houston
31) Chicago
32) Jacksonville

1 playoff team

See a pattern? Sorry, but finishing plays off does matter.. almost getting there just doesn't cut it sometimes. Would it make sense to keep Suh for 8 million a year? Yes.. paying him what he is making now or north of that? No.

Out of the top 10 highest paid DT's in the league only one made the playoffs.. Geno Atkins. The model doesn't work.

Re: Rob Parker on "Clubhouse Confidential"...

Why Its BS and its  really simple to explain.

Really?! He's $19, 475,000 dead money. If they trade him, then they must eat it all in 2014. As it is, his current cap number in 2014 is "only" $21, 412,500. That's a mere $1, 937.500 in cap savings next season. In return, they'd be giving up a 3-time Pro Bowl, 2-time 1st team All-Pro, 1-time 2nd team All-Pro in the prime of his career.

As it is, they can extend his contract and reduce his cap hit in 2014 to roughly $5 million. Rinse and repeat thereafter, just as they did with the annual re-negotiations during the first contract.

 .

Those numbers prove that Parker is full of BS and either ignores the facts or is just to stupid to understand the facts.

I think a deal will get done and if it doesn't then he will walk next year and we will get a third round pick and have Cap space to be active in FA.

Lions can rework just example CJ's salary to sign Ebron  . There are many moves they can do to create any  cap space they need .

I will base my feeling he will stay based on what he said and you can listen when he was interviewed not something his sister said 3 years ago on a tweet.

Complains about ones guys' sack totals. Lists team sack totals.  Good argument.

Merely using the metric that the post I quoted used.  Not sure too many would argue with Suh being productive in many ways.

For example, at least two of Levy's INTs were caused by pressure from Suh.  So this talk of Levy being #59 is kinda predicated on that.  That the Lions in general were best in 3rd down D and near the best in red zone D, I think that doesn't happen without Suh.
