Titus Young said to be improving

Lawyer says Titus Young is getting better with treatment

Former Lions receiver Titus Young, whose football career came to a halt amid a mental health breakdown that resulted in multiple arrests, remains in a treatment facility.

Titus is improving,” lawyer Brian Hurwitz told USA Today. “He’s getting better. We hope to know more about the legal case by June 19. But the most important thing right now is Titus’ health and his continued care. In the meantime, I am continuing to talk to the district attorney’s office and am preparing to either resolve the case or fight it.”

Young faces burglary and assault charges, but his case has been delayed several times while he seeks treatment. June 19 is his next court date.

The 24-year-old Young showed some early promise in his career with the Lions that he has the talent to play in the NFL. Some day he may get another chance, but for now, the focus of his treatment is getting his life in order.

Ha Wise, no I don't want Titus to come back and play for the Lions.

But as a human being, I hope he gets better, stays on his meds and rebuilds his life.

Lol, I can't imagine what Lions fans has had to endure. I guess one has to live it to fully appreciate it. It is why I have to be more sensitive toward VLG in regard to his adamancy regarding Kellen Moore. .....I just hope VLG has the strength to remain on his med's. ....yes, and I have to learn to be more empathizing when it comes to Lions fans.  biggrin

At least he didn't hurt anyone else that we know about.

I hope to heck Young gets a chance somewhere if he turns his life around. But I doubt it. My guess is he will need chemical (drug) help to get right and that will affect him physically in a negative way making an opportunity to come back impossible as he cannot function without the drugs. Again...that is my GUESS. And I play a doctor on TV so you know I am right. Right?

Brandon Marshall is a guy who stays on his meds and leads a productive life.  I'm no doctor either, but the general thinking on Titus is that he's manic depressive.  He will need to be medicated and has to commit to taking his helpers every day.  Hard to say, not all drugs work for everyone.  Some people are called "lithium failures" because they simply don't respond to that widely prescribed drug.  Hard to say what Titus' future holds...

I am happy that he is getting help

the questions that bother me is if he did not play in the NFL would he be getting help?

and how many people who need the help are not getting it?

I saw a special on that years back - many end up in the jails or prisons were the only thing they spend money on is more bars and more guards - There is no plan for dealing with mentally disabled population in prison , many of whom committed non violent crimes  and are locked up .

I'm not sure how it works, but, he was with the Rams last....but, they cut him, too.
Being a free agent he would pick his team, I guess. He'd be crazy to come back here.
I met him and thought he was a great kid... a human being.

In the last century, governments killed 260 million of their own citizens. Logical conclusion: Ban governments.

he still has to go to court and probably do a litttle time. football is not a near thing for him.

Re: Titus Young said to be improving

I thought it was sad that he was clearly mentally ill and you had people on this board saying it was simply him being a spoiled NFL player who was all about himself. A certain "scientist" here was the loudest how there was no proof of a possible mental illness. He was out of control, and a danger to himself. I hope he can get back on his feet.

Mental diseases are such an issue in America. Most of the people who suffer from them go undiagnosed too. I hope Titus gets the help he needs and can get his life turned around.

Sadly this is very unlikely to happen.

Because chances are he is done in the NFL...and without the NFL what is he going to do for a living?

The dude had a $1.2M signing bonuse (I think something like that) was making $400K+ a year and was a couple years from making really big money...and now what?

Wait tables?  Work at a car wash?

I mean, it is not like Titus used college to get educated and prepare himself for life in the world we all live in where you work for a living and earn your way.

It is not like he is an intelligent, educated human being.

The reality is that odds are Titus will end up being CRog (or worse) because he is exactly where CRog was.   Totally unprepared to survive in this world when not being coddled because he is a sports star.

Do I wish better for him...sure...but that is the realistic breakdown of where Titus is.

A dude that is used to making $400K a year and now is looking at welfare or minimum wage is almost certainly going to end up dealing drugs or something else where he can make that kind of money without an MBA from Harvard...until he gets pinched.

I believe that he will be able to get on meds and get straightned out...but then what?  What does a LA street punk do for a living if he can't play pro sports?
