Re: Game Results Oct.19-20

Good Game Story about Rashad Hall from Damin Esper ---Contra Costa beat the very impressive DeAnza Dons early in the season with big special teams play:

---------------

Contra Costa 59, Shasta 16:

Rashad Hall rushed for 200 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Comets over the visiting Knights in a Bay Valley Conference game.

"The main focus was to get Rashad Hall going early," Contra Costa coach Alonzo Carter said. "He's been a little nicked up but he's healthy now and you can see it in his running."

Hall put the Comets (4-3, 2-0 BVC) up for good on a 56-yard run early in the first quarter. The run came one play after Malique Earl intercepted an Austin Schmeltzer pass, the first of three turnovers forced by Contra Costa on the afternoon.

The Comets went up 14-3 later in the first quarter when they went for a fourth-and-6 at the 37. Quarterback Lamar McKnight hit Jamachal Torrez on a quick slant to the right. Torrez just kept on running for the touchdown.

Hall scored on a 17-yard run in the second quarter that put Contra Costa up 28-10. Hall almost did it all on the drive, carrying the ball four of the five plays for 66 yards.

The Comets rushed for 408 yards on the day. Davonte Sapp-Lynch rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns. Sapp-Lynch, the younger brother of Marshawn Lynch, was playing against cousin Donte Lynch, a defensive back for Shasta (2-5, 0-2).

Contra Costa is now tied for first place in the BVC with Mendocino, which beat Los Medanos 56-34 on Saturday. Contra Costa hosts Mendocino next Saturday.
