Re: Pro Football Hall of Fame
Speaking about Pro players and Hall of Fame, do you remember the Pasadena Bowl --JC RoseBowl? Do you remember the Compton Tartars team that beat Jones (Miss) before 57,000, and broke the color line? Compton's backfield was Joe Perry and Hugh McIlhenny. www.foundation4compton.org/ind...atid=1&Itemid=9

Re: Pro Football Hall of Fame
Great post about Compton. Like to see more about that team. Wonder if somebody has a list of JC players who have gone onto the NFL hall of fame.
The question when Larry Allen gets inducted will be how long his speech will be. Some of his Dallas Teammates said the Over/Under is 20 seconds.

Murph wrote an interesting article for JC football.com on this subject (I think last year). It listed a lot of the names and I think he mentioned what a fantasy team of pro players, who had their roots in JC football, might be like. Maybe he would re-post – it would be a good read for this time of the year.

Re: Pro Football Hall of Fame
I can think of two from CCSF. O.J and Ollie Matson. Matson went on to play on the great USF team of 1951. They were undefeated and were invited to either the Sugar or Orange Bowl. The one provison was that they not bring any black players. They refused to comply. Also on that team was another HOF player in Gino Marchetti. Marchetti went to Modesto.

Prior to attending Modesto, he fought in the Battle of The Bulge. If he didn't have toughness before, he sure got it then.

Re: Pro Football Hall of Fame
I went to the Hall of fame website and they list inductees by college as well as Junior College. The JC list is not accurate. They do not list Walsh from CSM, Gifford from Bakersfield or Matson from CCSF. Here is the list with those three added.
Bakersfield Frank Gifford Butte Larry Allen Cerritos Joe Gibbs and Ron Yary CSM Bill Walsh, John Madden and Dick Vermiel CCSF Ollie Matson and O.J. Simpson Compton Hugh McElhanny, Joe Perry and Pete Rozelle West L A Warren Moon
If I missed some, please add to the list. I only did California JC players

Here is the 700+ Bench, I sort of feel sorry for the guys who he played against at Butte.

Here is the video of his Rookie season they talked about. That is speed. Had to repost it just because I still can't see a OL running down a fast LB.
