State Title Game Attendance...... Bakersfields` large crowd

Bakersfields` Memorial Stadium was the site of this years` state title game and was rewarded with an attendance of slightly more than 16,000 fans........... granted the hometeam was playing in the game but can anyone tell me of a game in recent history of the state games that outdrew this crowd ??? I even have an inside source that mountieman was in attendance and pre gamed at a local piazza joint with the locals !!!!

This was the largest crowd in a California State JC Football Championship game.

Eclipsing the old record set in 2000 by 2.58 times.

AND the same two teams played in that game, but with a much different outcome.

CCSF captures second consecutive state title before record crowd, December 9 in Visalia

Visalia, CA ….City College of San Francisco defeated Bakersfield College, 31-13, to win its second consecutive Hyundai-California Community College state football championship before a raucous crowd of 6,250 and a statewide television audience on December 9 at Mineral King Bowl stadium in Visalia, CA on December 9. Blue Diamond Growers and the Visalia Area Sports Association served as presenting sponsors of the title game.

BTW LA Pizza Veloz has the best pizza in town and it was overflowing

with fans before the game

Yes it does have great pizza. Ate there after. Thank you CCSF fans for your passion and good behavior. It's nice to have great fans who don't get all butt hurt and start getting huffy when things don't go their way.
It was a pleasure sitting right in the middle of y'all. Hope you made it home safe.
Here's to seeing you next year!!!

How many CCSF fans made it to the game? Seems the last couple of home games for CCSF they had less fans at the game then the visitors.

The stadium is a perfect place to have the championship game whenever it is in the south.  My personal favorite stadium in the north is Hughes Stadium in Sacramento.

seeing fans in the stands really makes for good TV imaging, and a historic stadium really adds to the "brand" of the game ( like the Pasadena Rose Bowl)

since the final game alternates each year, how about alternating it between BC and Sac City venues, regardless of who the teams are?

as for the webcast, some people mentioned an audio echo issue --was that a problem?
otherwise the Ustream feed seemed to be a positive addition.

JC..............  I am sure that there were many more BC fans in the crowd than CCSF fans......... I would be surprised if more than a couple of hundred CCSF fans were there.... no one supports their team better than Bakersfield fans on the road or at home. The stands were filled mostly with the locals and a few outsiders from the Pomona area ................ of which rec`d a warm welcome from BC fans even after all the years of disparaging remarks from the Mt Sac posters about the community and residents of Bakersfield !!!!

Is the stadium the biggest JC stadium in California?
I was there and was impressed by the stadium and the fans.

I believe the largest JC stadium in California is Hughes stadium,

where Sacramento City College plays.  Capacity – 23,000

While Bakersfield Memorial Stadium’s capacity is about 20,000, there was a high school game with an attendance of 23,000

I believe the capacity dropped down with the latest rebuild. I know they did redo the seating and went from a dirt field (OK it was grass for the few weeks of the season) to Artificial Turf

You are so right......I just didn't dig deep enough...thanks

There are new bleachers, a new press box, new team rooms and a new all-weather track in the works for the 21,000-seat venue.

Still 1,000 more that Memorial

I'm sure it was very frustrating for him, trying to be the center of attention in such a big crowd.  Let me guess, the only reason that Bakersfield made the playoffs was because MSAC beat RCC, letting the 2-loss Renegades in the back door (or some such self-centered idiocy).  Actually, the only reason that Bakersfield was there is because they pounded the Mounties into submission in the SoCal title game.

BAKERSFIELD, THE TEAM TO BEAT!!!!

Hughes is a nice stadium, but about 40% of the seats are crappy endzone seats and since only about 20% of any given game is played inside the 10 yard line, the fans in those seats can't really see the action that well.

As for Bakersfield's Memorial Stadium, there really isn't a bad seat in the house.  100% of the seats are between the 10 yard lines on both sides.

The gades pretty much pounded everyone in the last 8 games or so.......but beating the Mounties was kinda special..........

At least for the moment it quieted things down.......piratesurprisedpirate

And the BC fans are always good sports.....win or lose.....excited
