Predictions of State Title Game and why.....................

Predictions of State Title Game and why.....................

Anyone care to predict the state title game winner and maybe why you picked your team ??

I think the Bakersfield College Renegades will beat CCSF.............. about 35-14 based on several reasons, 1 of which is I do not believe this City team is as strong as past teams and in fact the other BC team Butte College should be in the game.

CCSF will be on the road
Overwhelming crowd in favor of the Gades about 12,000 to 15,000 screaming Okies
Superior ground game of the Gades that features RBs Burrell and Mc Gregor
Overall balanced offensive attack of the Gades featuring Burrell at QB/ pure passer

Relentless D featuring speed and quickness and a good tackling team

CCSF gave up 400 yards on the ground to Butte and this BC team will also have tremendous success pounding the rock while Burrell will spin the rock through the air !!! Bakersfield comes in the game peaking at the right time having beat 2 S. Ca. teams in the playoffs that had beaten them in the regular season ranked #2 and #1 in S. Ca. The Gades beat Ventura 48-8 on the road then beat Mt Sac on the road 30-21 after BC trailed at the half to Sac 21-17........... at the home of the Mounties......

Your prediction....... ????

I too think BC has the advantage, but I think it will be a close game. Neither team gets beat often by that margin, and Coach Rush is a great motivator. I'll say...

BC      38
CCSF  31

Mistakes are going to be big in this game.

Murph............  I agree that Rush and fellow coaches are great.... however if BC gets the ground game going judging by what Butte did against CCSF.... 400 yards on the ground and a 31-21 victory.... allowing for home field and the balanced attack of Burrells` passing..... 35-14 Gades

PS.............  Butte and ARC both exposed the weakness in CCSF`s defense in the fact that City had problems on D stopping them from pounding the rock against them !!!

First off, Butte shouldn't be there because they lost to DeAnza.

I do agree that Bakersfield has every advantage going in to the game, but I think the game will be determined on how well BC stops the CCSF run. I think they might like Butte did, so I have BC-31 CCSF-21

Re: Predictions of State Title Game and why.....................

Besides a solid running attack, BC can throw the deep ball too. That balanced attack should really help. Burrell has such a strong arm, he often overthrows wide open receivers...but.....that is a lot better than under throwing them. And even missed deep passes will have a secondary thinking which should open up the ground game. I can only go by stats as far as the Rams go. I have not seen them play this season. But they are always a force to contend with, and like Mt SAC, always seem to save their best for the end of the season even though it didn't happen that way for them this year. To be quite honest, I thought BC might be a playoff team this year, but they really kicked it up a notch in the last half of the season. The line play has improved from the 1st game better than any team I can think of in recent Gade history. They'll have their hands full because the Rams have been known to have specimens on that front line. that might actually hurt them in the passing game with the Gades quickness. But they may be able to pound the ball much like SAC did in their earlier victory over BC.

so why not argue for DeAnza being there? Why do they always get left out of the eqaution?

Well stump............  You are right both De Anza and Butte are at home because of pre season weak schedules compared to CCSF...........

RE: Predictions of State Title Game and why.....................

Thats a great point but it was still a 3-way tie in the Nor-Cal Conference as Deanza beat Butte..... CCSF beat Deanza and Butte beat CCSF in conference to end in that 3-way........... tie breaker boiled down to strength of schedule in non conference and of course as JC Kevin pointed out De Anza lost in pre season to Contra Costa....

So, De Anza deserves to be sitting at home and in the head to head game Butte beat CCSF 31-21........... Butte should represent the north and I stand by I earlier post !!!

So, Stump why is De Anza not in the discussion ?? Kevin gave us the answer !!!!!

RE: Predictions of State Title Game and why.....................

well yes and no. DeAnza is only partly at home because of the loss to Contra Costa, but it has nothing to do with the 3 way tie that they ended up in with Butte and CCSF. If overall record count, it would be Butte for sure, but Butte is at home because they lost to a team that lost to Contra Costa. Butte may have deserved to be in the playoff game, and they might have been the best team at the end of the year, but they didn't get screwed.

The deciding factor in the tie breaker was the non conference schedule which favored CCSF........ playing Fresno...

They also played American River, DVC, Laney and West Hills.  The thing that hurt Butte was playing Shasta a "C" league team.

RE: Predictions of State Title Game and why.....................

Thanks Nocal............... perhaps you can repost ur breakdown of the tie breaker that you explained so well in your earlier post. But to summarize it in a nutshell was the fact that Butte played Shasta in pre season a "C" tier team and that bit Butte in the ass this year in the 3-way tie breaker with actually CCSF as De Anza with the loss to Contra Costa was dead in the water......

Coaches beware of who you schedule in pre season....... that easy cupcake can come back to haunt you !!!!

Re: Predictions of State Title Game and why.....................

well, this isnt the first time butte was left out... the FCC reedley game in '02 was due in part to some finagling to get FCC into the norcal title game, even though aaron rodgers and friends won the norcal conference that year, (but losing to FCC in noncon play factored its way into the ram's case)

back to the topic, witnessed an awesome state title game in '03 in bako, i know this one will be no exception, especially with the home side in full effect... city always finds a way with their in game adjustments, but after two straight rollings by powerful running attacks, hopefully they reinforce the box... if not, that mental and physical wear of the ground game will decide the outcome. either way, i still say the BC of the south takes it 31-28

Pre-Season games are not like they have been in the past. You are assigned the games now while in the past it was:
Games 1-2: Find your own games
Games 3-5: Cross-Over Games assigned by NCFA Commissioner
Games 6-10: League

Now its all games assigned by the NFCA Commissioner. So the teams you play are not of your choice anymore.

Losing strikes fear in a team; it's instructive. Butte in the state championship would have been the best game. We'll never know because the "formula" worked against us, even though we tied for NorCal. Who is the idiot or who are the idiots who came up with "formulas" and "calculations" to determine who is "selected" the best team? It's a joke, like most bowl games. What company would be stupid enough to sponsor thousands of dollars for a game with literally NO meaning?

Family and friends+ 20 fans showed up to the Fresno vs. Butte Bowl game. I'm sure that was a smart business decision for the sponsor who spent thousands to promote their business.

for a game with literally NO meaning?

I beg to differ with you….along with 10,000 (hopefully) BC FANS

THIS game has a lot of meaning…………………for BC

First state championship since, oh, 1988, has meaning
(National championship as well that year)

Coming out on top after a big letdown in 2011, has meaning

Second 11-2 season since 2006 ( ’07  12-1 ’09  10-2), has meaning

Revenge for 2000 SAN FRANCISCO 31 BAKERSFIELD 13 loss, has meaning

Putting SoCal back into the win column for the state championship, has meaning

SO I think you could say "it MEANS everything to BC"
