The Last Week Up North

The Last Week Up North

Going into the last week, two teams control the situation.  They are American River and CCSF.  First to American River.  They play Sierra and Fresno plays COS.  If AR wins they are in.  For Fresno to play in the championship they must win and have Sierra win.  Sierra is in if they win and Fresno looses.

CCSF plays Butte and DeAnza plays Foothill.  CCSF is good with a win.  Butte is good with a win and a Foothill upset.  DeAnza has no chance.

If DeAnza wins and Butte wins you have three teams at 4-1.  The conference employs a power point formula.  All teams were 5-0 in non league games. It boils down to who you played.  A teams are worth 15 points.  Bs are worth 10 and Cs are worth 5.

CCSf played 2 A teams and 3 B teams.
Butte played 2 A teams, 2 B teams and 1 C.
DeAnza played 2 A teams and 3 C teams.

CCSF owns the tiebraker.

I look for a CCSF/American River rematch.

Thanks for this explanation, makes perfect sense, and your conclusions look right on.  One minor note, DeAnza did lose 2nd week at CC and is 4-1 non-conference.

This season's results should produce some terrific bowl match-ups, aside from the North playoff game to see who goes to Mt. SAC --I guess the bowl games will be listed soon, I don't know anything about them at present.  There were some really good September games, especially CCSF at Fresno and at ARC, and Delta at CSM.

So then, Butte should controll their playoff chances also. Is this correct ?

Butte needs DeAnza to lose and then beat CCSF.  If DeAnza wins and Butte wins you go to the tie breaker.

Re: The Last Week Up North

So the loss DeAnza had in pre season has no effect on conf. play?
We had a three way tie years ago between CCSF, and Butte and another team and Butte ended up on the short end of the stick then. I forget what year it was, but it might have been when Rogers was there.

When it comes to SOS. Loses do not come into the equation. Only wins.

Re: The Last Week Up North

Aaron Rodgers year Butte won the Nor-Cal Conference Title but was denied entry to the Championship game as two teams from the Valley made it (Reedley and Fresno) which also was the only time the Valley has advanced to the State Game. The Valley has yet to beat the Nor-Cal Champion when it comes to the North Championship game.

When San Mateo played in the title game Butte's victory over Foothill gave San Mateo the tie breaker. Not sure if that made for a three way tie or made it to a two way tie.
