Re: Taxi Squad

This is a move in the right direction IMHO but it is an awkward transition.  They should just allow 16 and 55.  This movement will actually benefit Kansas kids in that it will relieve the pressure to find 43 Jayhawk roster worthy Kansas kids.   Hopefully it will bring some sanity to instate recruiting and lead to less NAIA type kids being bamboozled into the D1 dream.  No more 80 kid signing classes is a good thing.

Re: Taxi Squad

How will this benefit the Kansas kid.   Especially the kids that have been starting after the kansas/texas matchup.  Joey Kansas starts the next 9 games and busts his butt for the school and all the sudden come bowl time???    Thanks for the help Joey....grab some pine!  If you are so dilusional that a coach will sit an out of stater over a KS kid you are sorely mistaken.

This will create a huge problem with both kansas kids and their parents.  Where is the loyalty or payoff for a SEASON of hard work?  This will actually push more kids to look to D-2 or out of state at some 1-AA's.

Just one humble WAFFA's opinion...

Re: Taxi Squad

I agree with a little bit of both of the last two posts...a couple things come to mind in the scenarios mentioned. First, if Joey Kansas has contributed to 9 victories and is dependable and helps your team win those games, more than likely (and yes there will be exceptions) most coaches won't change that kid out entirely for an out of stater. The out of stater might get some plays but not the whole game. Secondly, I think the question has to be for the kids and/or the parents on taking the chance- "did you grow up or dream of playing for Emporia State/FHSU/Friends/etc or did you dream of playing for *insert Div 1 school name here?" Because if Joey Kansas has 9 games of good film he will still get his shot which is all he can ask for in the first place....Just another humble opinion though.

I know this idea had been brought up a few times before so I'm curious why they adopted it now? Anyone have any opinions on that?

Re: Taxi Squad

Most Kansas kids need to look at Div 2s and NAIA's out of high school.  We are hopefully ending an era of the Jayhawk oversigning kids from Kansas.  In the end this will be a good thing for all parties.

However,  the "taxi" squad is dumb.  They need to just move the OOS limit to 16 and place yearly LOI and scholarship limits.
