Hutch will be the easy one to beat.... It's Butler that continues to be the big problem...

we can be up 30 points at half and not close the door on those pricks. mad

I don't think you spot Flores 30 points anyone will be able to come back on him.biggrin

LOL!

When was the last time Butler even gave up 30 points in an entire game?  2004?  Butler's defense has only gotten better over the years.  It's Schaffner and Braet who make the Butler D dominant.  And Butler's dominant D wins championships.

CV won't be scoring 30 points on Butler this year.  Write that down.

we have been up on Butler by 30 points at half time 2 different times and Butler came back and won the game.... frown

how long have you been around Butler football?

those wins are some of the biggest wins in the history of Butler football! banghead

If you talk to any long standing Raven fan they will tell you that those losses' was & have been the biggest in Raven football history... or at least in my opinion.flushed

Actually, CV was only up 25 and 28 in those two games, respectively. They were in 2003. The first game was 28 to 3 at half. Butler came back to win 29 to 28. In the second game, the halftime score was 31 to 3. Butler scored 3 tds in the last 3 minutes to win 45 to 38. I've been around long enough to have attended both games.

But, that all misses the point. Butlers defense is far better now than it was then. Schaffner has been the dc since 2006, and the d has been lights out during that time. Cv will not score 30 on butler next year, let alone run up a 30 point lead.

Oh! I got your point.. don't be like me and say this or that "is going to happen" when we have to play that game with the football that bounces both ways.  biggrin

I do agree, it will be tuff going but strange things happen in this world... everyday!

I dunno Irish, he may be right.  I heard that the head coach from LSU has been hanging around the Coffeyville AD's office with his hat in his hand. eek1

I can't tell if that is English or not, but I think you're trying to say (1) I'm right and (2) that I am somehow being hypocritical by suggesting that you should be a little less flamboyant in your predictions, while myself stating that CV won't score 30 on Butler next year.

As for (1), thank you.  I know.

As for (2), I hardly think the two things are comparable.  CV hasn't beaten Butler in 14 YEARS.  That's, what, 21 or 22 games?  In that span, CV has only scored 30 points on Butler 1 time that I can remember.  CV hasn't scored 30 points on Butler since 2003.  I think it's fairly safe to say the CV won't score 30 points on Butler next year.  Certainly, the odds are in my favor on that one.

On the other hand, your proclamations that something is wrong with Butler (i.e. its period of dominance is coming to an end), that things are changing in the conference (i.e. CV will be returning to domination), and that CV will beat Butler this year are . . . well . . .  not good bets -- to put it mildly.  Certainly, you don't have the support of recent history on your side, and you don't even have a reasonable projection based upon current facts.  You don't have any new recruits to base these claims on, your coach has never been a HC before, your DC has never been a DC before, your OC has never been an OC before.  They have NO track record to base your claims on.  Sheesh, the list goes on.  You have nothing but pathetically homeristic hopes and dreams to support your claims.  Yet, you make proclamations as though you're the board soothesayer bringing the gospel of JUCO football to us heathens.

Am I saying that CV can't win or that CV will never return to prominence in the Conference?  Hell no.  We've all watched enough football and sports in general to know that upsets happen and things change.  that being said, your bold predictions are, to put it nicely, unlikely to come true -- especially this first year of your new coaching regime.  A little cautious optimism would probably be better for your psyche.  You should give it a try.

It's time for your meds, Alum.

It's been 72 years since Butler beat CV?  What the hell does that mean?  CV has been Butler's whipping boy for 14 years in a row now.  Do you mean that CV still leads the all time series?  If so, I suppose that's right, but (1) we're catchin' up in a hurry and (2) I'm not sure too many people care about who won the Butler/CV football game in 1948.

In any case, I won't be losing any sleep over the thought of losing to CV this year.  I suspect the reverse would not be true for you.

559-253-29 since 1923.
winning percentage - 68

Vs the Jayhawk
Butler 45-38-2: Dodge 50-13: Fort 51-24-3: Garden 43-26-1: Hutch 54-21-3: Indy74-15-4: Highland? 29-3.

==71 percent vs the Jayhawak overall.

Re: Former Red Raven to play in bowl game this wed night Dec 21

In the record business, you're only as hot as your last hit.  Granted, Coffeyville has a great history but that was years ago.  We are dealing with today.  Mike Tyson was a great boxer, but how would he do now in a match with the current champion?  Don't get me wrong, I do wish the best for the Ravens, I am a graduate of that juco.  I played football for Coffeyville in highschool.  We were undefeated in my senior year, so I do have a knowledge of the game first hand.  Football, like all other sports, is a game in which  you must prove yourself every year.  What happened in the past is just that.  Past.  I do believe Coffeyville is on the right track and may, in a few years get back to their winning heritage. However,  I think beating Hutch, Trinity and Butler next year is a tall order.  If they do that, I'll be the first to salute them.

As long as CV can manage to make the playoffs, then Butler should take the lead in just 4 short years.  biggrin

BTW, that's not a serious prediction.  I realize that a lot can happen in 4 years.

By these numbers, everything must be going smoothly in Coffeyville.

Since 2005, winning percentage against the rest of the KJCCC during the regular season:
Hutchinson -- 50% (including an 0-9 in 2006)
Coffeyville -- 67% (57% under Dulin)
Butler -- 96.2%

I scanned it from 2005 to prove a point, which apparently isn't far off from the overall numbers. That's when the Ville started sliding out of the two spot. A 71% winning percentage isn't going to smooth things over, but I guess if you're satisfied with those numbers, you should call Dulin and welcome him back with open arms.

When you've lost 4 out of 5 to Hutch (and not just lost, but getting trounced by four or more TDs), I think you'd give the upper hand to the better team.... but not in the Ville. They just spew their overall records like they still mean something. You know what those records also show?

-- Leiker has a better record than Skip (...and who did the Ville faithful want back??)
-- Coffeyville hasn't won a regular season title since 1997.
-- Coffeyville hasn't won a national title since 1990.
-- Coffeyville has lost 21 straight to Butler.

But hey, you've won 71% overall, so no worries! It's nice to know you owned everyone in the 70's and 80's. I was once entertained by my brother's Intellivision and playing Pong. Never cared too much for disco music though. IRREVELANT DOMINATION THAT'S OLDER THAN THE KIDS TAKING THE FIELD FTW!

Re: Former Red Raven to play in bowl game this wed night Dec 21

I am trying to see why this turned in to a totally different topic.banghead
This was about Quinton Patton who if you watched the game was nursing a high ankle sprain. He was mentioned several times by the espn crew about how he and 1 other player dontated their gift cards of $300 to the make a wish foundation. 2 players on the whole team and the former raven player was one of them. Like the thred was, started he is a good kid. Thanks for representing the jayhawk conference in a positive way.

I think you can blame the usual suspect from changing the topic in this thread. I was questioning the same thing when I read the subject right before I posted.
