Re: Fort Scott WINS!!
I'll add some more tomorrow...but have you noticed...? Did anyone notice that Conference Championship Presentation after the game? I didn't. It went by quicker than you can say, "Go Hounds". Last year at Butler (when they won it), it came with all the fanfare of the second coming of Jesus Christ! Had to of lasted 5-10 minutes. Bias? Surely not. Just look on the front of the KJCCC web page and notice who is standing next to the Conference Commissioner. Was the Commissioner even there today? Wonder how he felt about the officiating?

YAAAAAAAAAY!!!!! Finally!! So long overdue! Way to play boys. Hey, all the Butler fans were right. Defense wins games and the hounds defense played one heck of a game today.

Re: Fort Scott WINS!!
First off your play clocks suck. The commissionor was there. The officiating was horrible. Sims is a tool. He was mid field with time left on the clock. Your annnouncer is right next to Sims. Too, bad we beat ourselves. We will be glad to come back and spoil your party in a couple of weeks. Make sure 50 stops holding good day.

Re: Fort Scott WINS!!
There is a good grizzly fan, avoiding the event of the day. Defense wins championship and defense did! Let me see if I can recap the boards this week. FSCC can't run on BUCO, without official stats I think the running game produced about 200 yards FSCC will have to rely on the pass and they can't do that. Well over 100 yards BUCO defense always causes turnovers. FSCC - 1 BUCO D-takles will kill the FSCC line. 98, 99, both flat on their backs most of the time. I do want to give great props to #19, he was everywhere and saved BUCO a lot, #32 also was a beast! The BUCO offense can score points in a bunch and in a hurry. 10 points, not quite enough. The game was great, BUCO was great, so was FSCC. Just want to hear some BUCO posters to admit, IT CAN HAPPEN! cause it did. Yes, I know, I know, we will see you in a couple of weeks. By the way, your quarterback is awful. I don't know if he threw even 1 pass to a receiver. Just tossed it up and then let the speedsters go get it. By the way, lots of posts about how we don't have enough visitors stands, well if you hadn't brought the bus load of OLD and Gristly Fans, you would have had nothing there. Barely filled the 4 bleachers! Let the excuses begin!

Barely filled the 4 bleachers! The "busload" was a whooping 38 fans ranging in age from junior high to 70 plus in age --we were riders on that bus so I know this for a fact to be true!! Your bleachers were fairly normal size--so I would say your assumption that our fans "barely filled the 4 bleachers" after the bus fans were seated is a little off (at least in Butler math--but then maybe Ft Scott math is a little different than here!) Guess you also didn't notice the Butler fans (hint: they were the ones dressed in PURPLE) that lined the stadium from the end zone to the bleachers because there was not enough seating for them?? Here's another newsflash for you: Butler is beatable but SURPRISE SURPRISE so is Ft. Scott!! Our offense has not been consistent this year nor as solid as in years past--we made mistakes today that cost us dearly and Ft Scott capitalized on them (ie: the one and only score of the first half--off a Butler fumble. Another fumble in the endzone during the second half--again Ft Scott capitalized). Ft Scott didn't regain the lead until the last 2 minutes of the game after a march down field. Kudos to Ft Scott's offense in that series of plays. Perhaps a rematch will be in a few weeks--but we'll all have to wait to see how next week goes!! Guaranteed--Hutch will be coming to play and Coffeyville will be coming to play!!

Re: Fort Scott WINS!!
I respectfully disagree. Butler had the largest, loudest, visitor's section I have seen in two years at one of these games. I was impressed and could even hear their cheers on the other side of the field. A Ft Scott player said the home stands were very loud as well, but I saw a lot of Ft Scott people sitting on their butt...except when the cheerleaders were throwing out free miniature footballs. The Ft Scott defense hasn't been consistent either. Highland scored more points on them than Butler did. But dayum, they rose to the occassion yesterday. A 97 yard drive in the 4th quarter against the #1 defense...there is no way to explain that away other than to say they just flat out did good.

Re: Fort Scott WINS!!
I wasn't at the game.....listened to the 4th quarter on the radio - how was the field? I've been there when it rained and it was muddy then so I expected lots of mud yesterday too. Congrats to Fort Scott - now you've won something and can let the "feeding" begin.

Re: Fort Scott WINS!!
The field sucked...it looked dry for the most part (no standing water), but you could see where the lineman on both sides had been fighting it out.

Re: Fort Scott WINS!!
I luv houndbacker! Way to represent! No one can argue that this game was incredibly intense and honestly, I can't wait to see Butler back here! Win or lose, it's the most fun I've had in a long time! It's so fun to see the Butler fans as angry as we've been for years and years! These comments look like ours the past several years! lol

Great hard fought game, I don't think I've ever been to 14-10 game that was that exciting.

I am so disappointed that Ft. Scott beat Butler. I so wanted it to be Coffeyville that did the deed. Oh well, "There never was a horse that couldn't be rode and never was a cowboy that couldn't be throwed". Congrats Ft. Scott.

HoundHorn wrote:...A 97 yard drive in the 4th quarter against the #1 defense...there is no way to explain that away other than to say they just flat out did good. Yes FS did a good job when it counted. But more than likely, it was the consequence of too much time on the field for the Butler D. Those guys are great, but after bailing out a poor at best Butler O time and time again, it really was just a matter of time before the D maked a misstep that turned into a giant play. And it turned out that it only took one. But how could Butler expect to win with 4 turnovers, FS having half again more snaps than Butler and twice the number of completed passes? Even the greatest D possible can't hang on forever. Before the Bye, the Butler O seemed brilliant at times, sluggish at others, but functional for the most part. After the bye they began to come alive and finally started to execute pretty consistently for the first time. Yeah their opponents weren’t at the top, but the field play was good. Saturday's game was an example of one team being more focused, playing like they had nothing to lose, and just not quitting. That's hard to say being a Grizzlies supporter, but if Butler doesn't find a way to get beyond this and go back to doing what they do best, and what they've done for years, next Saturday could be the end of this season. But if they do. If Coach M can get them playing as a team and not a gang of "look at me", restore confidence in all aspects of the passing game, focus on the job on the ground and not the pie in the sky, then Saturday will be the first of three victories in another great season. "It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up." ~Vince Lombardi

Re: Fort Scott WINS!!
I have seen a lot of games on all levels and what happened was butler was good but ft scotts defense shut them all the way down esp #97 from the third play of the game. #99 was right there too. So let reality set in.

Katman I don't know if I agree with what you are saying overall, but you "hit the nail on the head" with that 4th paragraph! Preparing these young men mentally is 90% of the problem. Whoever does that better will win. Screw stats. Contusion... Don't blame the play clock for your inability to get the snap off in time. I smell sour grapes...eat 'em like a man!
