Humble Pie has been served

Humble Pie has been served

A lot of talking has been done on here about how the jayhawk conf is the best thing ever... Looks like there is a new king of the castle. I'm sure butler fans will have around 1001 excuses as to why they didnt get their next ring, but anyone who knows football and watched the game truly understands what happened.
Eat up BuCo nation, hope you boys aren't too full. It's been awful quiet on the boards for you playing in the title game.
Can't wait to hear from you!

Enjoy the national title and act like you've been their before. Have a talk with some of your football players about sportsmanship over the social media circuit. I didn't say all. I said some.

As far as excuses, we knew what to expect. They're a good football team. Hope for a rematch in the future and I'm sure it will come.

Re: Humble Pie has been served

We knew you were a good team also, but as far as our team being excited about a national championship I can't defend them. What I do know is your cheerleaders had a lot to say on social media before and after (which is embarrassing anytime gay guys and girls say anything about football) so I guess we are even? Also we haven't won one before so I guess they will all act idiots. Thanks for the game, stay trill!

Re: Humble Pie has been served

Interesting thought... If we are judging conferences rank solely on this bowl season it looks as if the MFC would be the top dog. Iowa Central the worst of the conference (played what seemed like about 6 JV teams
) went toe to toe with the second best jay hawk team for three quarters. In fact hutch was throwing the ball on their final drive to try and save face. That game being the only loss the conference took with dupage putting on a show and Ellsworth beating LC. As far as the Miss. League they got embarrassed by the 5th best Kansas school?

The title game was great to watch, as physical game as I have seen. It's really too bad about Cosh, never want to see that but he looked hesitant and nervous. Something like 7/23? While the Waters kid proved he is the best in the nation. 23 straight completions to close the door on any hope Butler thought they had. That IW team is quite possibly the best juco football team I have ever seen. The defense was lights out especially since there were a lot of doubters on this board. I did not see a hole at on position out there. The staff did a great job exploiting Butlers gameplan, and they didnt seem to adjust what so ever. Couldn't agree more with Reivers79, looks like a changing of the guard.

Re: Humble Pie has been served

First time poster & big time Iowa Western fan.

I have a lot of respect for the Jayhawk conference and Butler as well.  From my experience this weekend their fans were great, even in defeat.  The Butler program is obviously one of the best in JUCO.

My point is I hope that this weekend lays to rest any talk about conferences and strength of schedule.  I understand why these forums are here and that it's fun to predict the bowl games, but when your logic is "Oh Butler played Hutch and Iowa Western hasn't played a team like Hutch, so Butler has the advantage," how is that a logical evaluation of both teams?  You have to watch both teams play or do some research on their players to make any educated predictions.  Iowa Western has perhaps double the D-I players that Butler has.  Statistically, Deon Long is the greatest receiver in the history of JUCO and Jake Waters will go down as one as well.  I didn't see these points made prior to the game.  The only logic for why Butler would win seemed to be strength of schedule and that Iowa Western is from the MFC.  And I vaguely remember someone (don't know who so I won't point fingers, but he's a Cali JUCO fan) saying that Butler was gonna beat that "JV team from Iowa by 60 points."  Haha, what a joke!

Reivers79 -- I'm not going to elaborate too much on this, but I'm sure if you're familiar with the social media and follow them, you'll see that they've been calling people derogatory names -- especially females that they've never even met. I find it tasteless and classless. Like I said though, it's a select few. They don't represent the entire team, but they are still members of the football team and representing the team, the athletic program and the school. What they had to say was supporting their team and PG trash talking at best. What they received after the game (and even during the pregame banquet Saturday night) was uncalled for.

Re: Humble Pie has been served

It is unfortunate that a few will give the program and it's community a bad name. Disrespectful comments aren't needed. I cannot say I am in to the social media much so I'm not sure what has been said, but knowing coach Strohmeier I am sure he has already addressed the issue. I'll be sure he is aware of it if not already.
Just a guess, but I would assume the ones talking were not the ones playing as that usually seems to be the case.

Besides the previously mentioned, great game, great event. Hopefully there will be more matchups in the near future. Looks like the makings of an out of conference rivalry. Proud to say that we are one up on you at this point in time!

Re: Humble Pie has been served

The players have been using Twitter to motivate themselves all year.  Obviously this can be a bad thing when they attack those who have doubted them.  Not that this is an excuse, but all season Iowa Western players have had to deal with other players/fans who keep telling them that they aren't serious contenders because they're from Iowa.  Trinity Valley didn't respect us and it obviously backfired (to the point that their whole season was ruined after the loss).  Georgia Military had mentioned time after time that they were gonna show us what Georgia football is all about...and they went home with their tails between their legs.  And Butler fans repeatedly said that we have no idea what's coming for us...In fact, the IW defense used comments from this forum ("IW is just like Hutch because their defense isn't very good") to add extra motivation for the championship game.

So when you're constantly told that you can't do something, players will tend to lash out when they prove people wrong.  I just wish those that did would have done it in a more respectful manner.  There are a lot of other comments that I have read in this forum that I would LOVE to attack, but figure the damage has been done so I'll let you Butler fans off the hook.  Funny that some of the most active people on this site have been missing since Sunday's game!

Went back and did a little research...all of the players that had derogatory things to say on Twitter were back-ups.  Coincidence? Probably not... It wasn't all bad though.  One of IW's players wished Cosh a speedy recovery and said that his prayers were with him.  I think we can all agree on that and wish him the best at Houston once he is healthy.

Butler79 and Irish must be cuddled up together in a tornado shelter. This has to be the longest neither of them has posted. Especially about their beloved team. It's ok to admit you got dominated boys, quit crying on each others shoulders and come back out and play... Life goes on.

Re: Humble Pie has been served

Welcome back Irish. Note my obsession with you, and I love it. You have absolutely nothing to say of value, so congrats on getting dominated. I'm out west and I love this. Keep pretending like you aren't crying alone in your bedroom crying about this and I'll pretend like I care what you say.
You jayhawk lovers are one of a kind. I'm sure butler79 will console you.

How many players are on Iowa Western's roster and how many out-of-staters do they suit up, compared to Butler?

Re: Humble Pie has been served

Obsession noted?  Ask yourself this, if the roles were reversed would you be on this site waiting to here from Iowa Western fans?  I GUARANTEE that you would...And bandrat, I can't tell if you're being facetious or serious, but the answer is Iowa Western gets 20 compared to Butler's 12. Though this fact didn't seem to matter much prior to IW's victory.

Re: Humble Pie has been served

Don't worry fellas we have a whole year to discuss this topic, I understand some of you are still a little bitter. Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the Kansas league allow for 16 out of state players in non conference match ups?
Also, does it really matter, I thought it was two TEAMS competing toward the same goal. So essentially you are saying that the Kansas and Iowa athletes are meaningless? I know IW started 8 Iowa kids on O, how many did Kansas kids did Buco start on D?
Your out of state qb threw a game changing pic right before half to an in state Iowa safety...
Was it also unfair that the game was played in Iowa?
Was it unfair that all the buco players were outfitted in turf shoes and IW kids had to wear cleats?

Like I said we have almost a full year to play this game.

Re: Humble Pie has been served

I watched the NC game online, and the boys from Iowa Dominated from start to finish, and the so-called difference makers for butler (coaches) were out-coached... The IW QB didn't throw an incompletion in the 2nd half, he completed like 25 straight passes... Make adjustments!

Re: Humble Pie has been served

Wow. Really?! We're not even gonna talk about the game? Just sweep it under the rug like it never happened and begin posting next season? Is this really Butler's coping strategy cause its pretty embarrassing. I know that you're not used to losing, but at least be respectful in defeat and congratulate the IW players and coaches who put together a championship team in just 4 years.

Re: Humble Pie has been served

Wow. Really?! You want to keep talking about the game?

OK, it pretty much turned on one play. We are driving for the tying score before halftime and throw a pick six and our QB goes down on the play. So with him out and our #1 RB not playing we were not coming back. I am not saying we would have won with them, but it would have been nice to see a more competitive game. You guys outplayed us and deserved the win. Congratulations on winning your FIRST NC game.

You are right, we are not used to losing. 18 games in the past 15 years and 4 of those have been in the NC game. So in addition to having won many more NC games than you, we have lost more than you have won. We aren't used to losing, but deal with it by coming back out the next year and striving to get back in the NC hunt.

You really expect the BUCO nation to come on here and kiss your ass because you won an NC after 4 years of playing football? Come back when you have played in 11 NC games, have 6 NC wins and 2 back to back NC teams to boast about. Show that you can develop a program that is successful year in and year out. Maybe you would get a little more respect with that kind of resume.

Yet you come on here, calling us embarrassing while you are popping off like a punk that just won your first national championship. But, wait, I guess that is what you are. You can't act like you have been there before because you haven't. Those of us that have must be tolerant of your type. Here's to hoping you learn to stay classy, win or lose, if you ever get another chance.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all Grizzlies out there. Looking forward to next year's football season already.
