Re: NJCAA top ten QB transfers to Ventura

Something happened. Starters dont transfer out of the blue from strong JC programs. I hope Ventura is not getting a bad apple. I hope I am wrong. The character of an individual is not seen in any stats.

Re: NJCAA top ten QB transfers to Ventura

Gehrke is going strictly for exposure.  Ventura was 10-0 regular season, and had Coach of the Year in California Mountain State Conference. Gehrke was awarded Offensive newcomer of the year by Scottsdale, given by the coaches. He has a strong relationship  with all the former players and coaches.  Gehrke wanted to play in California JUCO system after senior year in high school, but Scottsdale Notre Dame Prep, where Gehrke was on the Dean's list and team MVP voted by his teammates,  does not let students graduate early, so Gehrke dual enrolled at SCC, right down the road from Notre Dame Prep,, in order to play spring ball, and enabled him to beat out two D1 bouncebacks, Brock Berglund, who is highly rated on JCfootball, , and Kevin Spain from Hawaii.  Gehrke is an honors student and very active in his church and widely respected of his character by SCC  coaches and current coach at Ventura. They will all concur. SCC offensive coordinator, who recruited him at SCC,  left for D2 job just before the season started and Gehrke lived up to his committment and stayed and played the whole season. Many California JUCO's were after Gehrke after his senior year in high school and SCC Coaches knew he was leaving and even announced at team banquet back in December they were sad he was leaving and wished him well.   Any other posts contrary to these facts are totally unfounded with the Head Coaches Gary Gregory at Notre Dame Prep and Doug Madoski at Scottsdale CC  who will attest Gehrke is one of their favorite and coachable players with a combined 25 years on coaching.
