With our current division alignment, would it more fairly represent the best 4 teams in the south, if the  #4  and #5 teams were voted on by the coaches while they are voting on the top 3 seeds.

In other words the Southern Conference was the weakest conference last year.  Should the 3rd lowest conference champion get an automatic trip to the playoffs when they aren’t the 4th best team.  For example (6-4) SB goes to the playoffs over (8-2) RCC and it could have just as well been over (8-2) BC.  RCC beat SB 51-13.  The injustice is evident.  IMO - To let a 6-4 team into the playoffs over an 8-2 just isn’t right.

And yes this could affect BC in the Nothern Conference next year with VC, Cerritos, COC and AHC all fielding pretty good teams.

I'd say the top 4 in  the latest rankings go to playoffs. pirate and then of course, there will be someone again that won't be happy. Ideally, top 2 in each conference should make playoffs.

Six best teams, no matter what division they play in, Seeds 1 and 2 bye in week one, #3 vs #6 and #4 vs #5, In week two, seed 1 plays the lowest seed left . . . Week three So Cal Championship game, 13-14 game schedule, no break week before the state title game . . . State title game on neutral field, rotate games between Bakersfield and Fresno . . . Same format goes for NoCal, six best teams . . .
