Should teams have a suggestion box for play calling??

Should teams have a suggestion box for play calling??

At VC we got some young guns on the sideline.....eek1 But it has been an eye opener seeing most of the top teams play the last few years.

All these teams with all these fast athletes and only a select few can run the ball. I saw 4 of the worst offensive performances yesterday while watching Citrus, RCC, Cerritos and VC.

I say lets have a suggestion box and let the fans call some of the plays.........no way we can do any worse......ohlordblah2banghead

Baseball impressario Bill Veeck tried this once when he owned the Browns.  He had fans vote by mail for the staring lineup for a game against the Philadelphia A's, and vote for decisions during the game by holding up "yes" or "no" cards.  And the Browns won the game.

Could be the next great promotion for JC football too, eh?

I remember Bill Veeck but dont recall that deal. He would try almost anything to get an edge. I do like the idea of holding up a card. I did have a card made that shows how I feel about certain plays........

Hek,
good thing you didn't take in the Moorpark/Bc game....
you would have seen 2 more sub-par teams

Jalen Sykes18532.9141
Kwame Johnson5173.470

Maxx Lunn16462.9100
Justin Roberson8192.470
Dominick Markham2157.5140
Max Leffler

The rest of PJ Gremauds quote was "I don't care, I'd rather be lucky than good anyways"
The Pirates are for real! They win games because they are resilant! All the signs of a Championship team.
I guess the Pirates just have to win State to make believers. They way it looks, the Pirates will be 10-0. That's not luck, that's flat out a good football team.

the playoffs

Re: Should teams have a suggestion box for play calling??

Being a great JC football coach is probably like a lot of other things, easier said than done. In a 2 year system, any major changes in offensive or defensive strategies and a coach loses whatever advantage a team might have with their sophomores, who learned the system last year.

I look at the offensive strategies of teams like VC, SAC, RCC, SB, Cerritos etc. I like what I see.  When the offence is set, there is at least some strategic tension for a defense as to what they might do.

BC lines up with 2 tight ends on first and second down and runs it up the middle.  We’re a north and south running team by gum.  What do defenses do?  They put 8 in the box.  That’s how BC, having 2 of the best running backs in the NC, comes up with 68 yards rushing against a team like Moorpark.

I guess the grass is always greener……….. noideaArm chair QBs, we're the best! wink

Re: Should teams have a suggestion box for play calling??

BC has been running north and south for as long as I've been a fan...and
that's a very long time. AND it works when we have all the ducks in a row to
run the ball
We've had only two sub 100 yard games (1 loss to MtSac-64 yrds- 7/0
and 1 win against Moorpark - 68 yrds-2/6) so far this year.
The other 5 games:
130 yrds - Santa Ana   6/2
260 yrds - Fullerson     4/3
201 yrds - Ventura      8/0
268 yrds - Canyons     2/5
135 yrds - Elco           2/6

I know why we had only 64 yrds against MtSac - They were just to good for us
But only 68 yrds at Moorpark????????????? At 2/6.....we played down to them.

ACDAD...would you say it might be worth a down season to change our
offence? Or just keep having a down season after season, after season?

I know, how about bringing back the Old East High Single Wing
(At least I would know what's going on)

AND there would be no need for Arm chair QBs, as the QB in a single wing
was a blocking back most of the time (never getting the ball).  AND in the Double-wing variation there was NO QB

Bottom line is, I think BC needs to get out and recruit some size and depth in our offensive and defensive lines and we can play any offense we want.  Weak line play is a perennial problem for BC.  Our outstanding QB needs some time and our great running backs need some holes.

We have a playoff grade team this year, so I can’t complain too much.  We played undefeated VC head to head even for 4 quarters + 3.99 overtimes.  I give us even odds to beat Cerritos this weekend 4:00 at home and I think BC has the weapons to beat AHC this year.

BC will not recruit. They know what we BC fans think, we Email them. That’s why I say.…..We have a playoff grade team this year, so I can’t complain too much.

They charge $7 for all of the close parking on the new home side now. The $7 close parking area sits two thirds empty during the game.  They know what we think, THEY are satisfied with things the way they are.

Admittedly alot of this stuff is damed if you do and damned if you don't for the coaches and administration.

But BC does recruit. Hollis, and wide receivers, db's are out of state guys. Big deal, this is college. How can a school say they wont recruit when they have 8-10 guys that are studs?  Do you really think they just stumbled across BC on the internet and called Chudy??   Chudy has friends that are coaches in texas and other places that recomend players.

If you or anyone else try and compare to Mt Sac, you might be disapointed..disbelief But your team is a very solid team. Probably my favorite playing style that I have seen so for to date this year.

I am just hoping for a bowl game every year.......excitedcrazyexcited

Re: Should teams have a suggestion box for play calling??

Heckler:  To be honest I don’t know how any of the teams actually handle their dealings with OOS players.  I have intuitive guesses, but they are a dime a dozen.  What BC has said publically about OOS recruiting is that they are very picky about whom they take OOS and they don’t have any intensions of increasing the # of OOS from the normal 10 any time soon.

This year’s BC team is actually the best we have had in a while.  We played undefeated VC even to 3.9 overtimes, and lost to MS by more than our usual 10-14 points.  BC was ready for the MS spread; the Gades picked Montana 3 times in the first half.  BC scored first (7) and were 1st and 3 yards away from going up 14-0 and didn’t get it in.  After that MS went with a solid running game attack, which BC clearly was not ready for.

I’m guessing 2 new teams VC and RCC will probably make the playoffs this year.  It will be interesting to see how they size up against SAC and whoever? banghead from the National South.

Hancock has a really good running back, but so happy not a fan of theirs......they run right up the gut all night between the hashmarks. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzbored1bored1bored1bored1

Should be an interesting matchup with BC. 2 hard nosed teams. In fact with all the running plays, it could set a record for quickest game of the year!!

Any AHC fans care to comment about the lack of creativity by the offense?noideaohlordnoidea
