I like 9.  I think we are better than last year but not as good as the KF teams that have won 10 or more.

9 is most likely, but 10 or 11 isn't out of reach if the back 7 on defense gels early.

I BELIEVE!!!

Got to agree with the Gester on this one. Just need to stay major injury-free. biggrin

I hope so much I am wrong but I bet we hit 8 again...I'd love to eat crow but right now the kool-aid isn't sweet enough.  I am still concerned with the UNI game quite a bit but hopefully we take care of business.

GO HAWKS!!

Would love to say more but think somehow our guys are just a little short in a couple of games they should win. I say 8-4 which isn't a bad season just not what we all are hoping for.

Eight. Too little depth on the oline. New linebackers. More difficult schedule than people think. Lose to Maryland , Nebraska , Pitt and either Minny or Indiana.

Somewhere in the 8-10 range. I think 10 is the dream. Most likely 8 is the most realistic but I choose 9 to split the difference between elation and disappointment.

We'd all like to see 11-12 wins but if you stop and consider all that has to happen for that to materialize it starts to become apparent how unlikely it is. No Iowa team has ever finished a perfect season that I know of. The last time one was predicted they finished 7-5. One of Hayden's top teams had a similar record. To expect anything close to perfection from a group with this many question marks really just sets the stage for disappointment.

Even 8-4 is a damn good season and would keep this team fun to watch. I really think they can win any game they're in but that doesn't mean they win them all.

I'm gong 9. Hoping Davis gives the Off a little more octane this year. Just wondering if JR can establish a deep threat. Anyone else smell QB controversy this season?
The D doesn't worry me so much. We have these frets every other season and still end up in the top half of the BIG - top 25 nationwide.

There is a scent of QB controversy. Jake Rudock was a below average QB. He was such an improvement from the starter from a year earlier that we embraced Rudock. He was inexperienced a year ago.

With a year of seasoning I expect him to be better. I worry about Rudock because he was hurting at the end of last season and during the bowl game.

I do think Beathard had caught up to Rudock by the end of last season.

We have great tradition in defense. Phil Parker is every bit as good a defensive coordinator as Norm Parker. But Iowa has lost important people on that defense, and the loss of Nico Law will be felt.

A good place kicker helps win games at Iowa since traditionally this has been a defensively oriented team with a below average offense that keeps games close. We may actually find an offense this season. Not sure where we are at place kicker.

Not sure if JCB had caught up with Ruddock last season. He had more arm and was more mobile obviously due to Jake's injury. I do agree with those who say that Jake was the better overall manager of the O. Will JCB improve that aspect of his game if he gets a chance? Is JCB, given his superior arm, the better QB once he gets more experience? Something tells me this conversation is just getting started.

You're right about the kicking game. Could turn into an achilles heel that costs us a couple of close ones. Still going to slurp the cool-aide on the D and whimsically believe that there sre a couple of new stars to be born this year.

I like your observations for sure. From what I've seen of JCB and his flare reminds me of a Kenny Stabler type of player with more speed though. But the kid likes to chuck it and look for the big play and I think that's why KF hasn't turned the reins over to him and that JR is a good time management QB.

I'm drinking the Kool-Aid too and hoping KF continues his surprises.

10 games because of the low SOS and the experience that is coming back. But it wouldn't shock me in the least to see them win 8 or 9 given the history of failure to live up to high expectations and propensity to lose games they shouldn't.
