Potential Breakout Players for '14 Iowa Football

Iowa celebrated sending a large group of seniors to NFL camps earlier this month. On the flip side, it meant the Hawkeyes would need players to emerge in the absence of the athletes heading to the pros. HI takes a look at some of the names that could emerge as stars in 2014:

Nice article.....thank you Rob. I suppose Spearman would be another candidate to step into a starting role and perhaps have a breakout type of year. It is nice hearing good news on McMinn. He is a big guy with a lot of leverage coming off the edge. We desperately need a stronger pass rush. But I think much of that is going to be coming from up the middle or from sending an LB or 2.

Thanks for reading it. I think Spearman is going to be very good in time and that might very well be this fall. I think he's going to experience some growing pains but he has the ability to overcome them quickly.

Having a solid D line that returns all four starters should help the three new starters at LB immensely

That's kinda what i was think'in.....and the two (Sr's) in the middle, one of which (Carl) , if not both may require double teams as well

In terms of " breakout ".....I'm gonna say the WR corp as a whole, needs to step up and be more consistent, (meaning) getting open and catching, to give more " real " balance to the run game.....and that's not a knock on any one player, either.....maybe some of that is on the QB (either one) too.   JMO

Didn't open the link yet, but Desmond King sure looks like a future star. Have no idea what his "measurable" are but he was impressive last year. Of course I am wrong 99% of the time with predictions like this.

I think the TE corps as a whole is going to be fantastic

Can't double team both of 'em!

I think Meier is going to have a huge year and will be starting by game 3 if not sooner. He has bulked up to around 250lbs and has kept his speed! I'm really looking forward to both Meier and Ott tearing it up from the DE position this year!
