Re: Iowa vs Florida in Way too early ESPN Bowl projections

The ESPN prognosticators have Iowa either as the #3 -  #4 Big Ten team.

They must be thinking that 2-consecutive Outback Bowls for Iowa would not be good for the Outback Bowl.

These guys have Ohio St, Michigan St, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Nebraska as the top-5 Big Ten teams, with Ohio St getting 1-vote as a playoff team, and MSU finishing as a BCS Bowl qualifier in both projections. Seems like Iowa is being considered 3rd or 4th in the Big Ten.

MSU had a lot of losses from last year's team. I am a doubter on them

I think they are pretty close, on Iowa.

Agree.  Rittenberg and Bennet on the Big10 Blog think Iowa a little underrated.  Rittenberg must be thinking BCS bowl if he thinks we're slotted too low to the Capital One.

I think Iowa is in a great position to have less than 2 losses and make a trip to the B1G title game.  If that happens, Iowa is the 2nd seeded B1G team and probably headed for the Rose (not sure which bowl is hosting the NC game, if it isn't the Rose, then Iowa would go there.)  Perhaps AR is thinking along those lines.

So many predictions already.

From HawkCentral (see article below), you will see a summary of all of the predictions.

1 vote for Capital One
2 votes for Holiday
1 vote for Outback
1 vote for TaxSlayer in Jacksonville FL

The article:

Early football bowl projections have Hawkeyes going coast to coast

It’s the end of May, when the college football season seems to soooo far away.

But if you’re looking for something to tide you over, there are several bowl projections starting to pop up.

And the experts are all over the map, literally, when it comes to Iowa’s postseason destination.

Brett McMurphy of ESPN has the Hawkeyes in the Capital One Bowl (Orlando, Fla.), while Mark Schlabach is leaning toward the Holiday Bowl (San Diego, Calif.)

Jerry Palm of CBS Sports posted his picks a while back, with Iowa in the TaxSlayer Bowl (Jacksonville, Fla.).

The National Football Post has the Hawkeyes heading back to the Outback Bowl (Tampa, Fla.), but with the new Big Ten selection process, I don’t see that happening.

And, finally, SB Nation is also projecting Iowa to the Holiday Bowl.

Whether you agree or not, it’ll fuel conversation.

I honestly think we have an EXCELLENT CHANCE of making the B1G title game; it should happen if:

1) we stay healthy
2) we take care of the teams we should beat (Maryland, MN, for example)
3)  we take care of WI and NE at HOME (these are our last 2 reg season games)

If Iowa does all 3 of those things Mr T...

Iowa will win 10 plus games and play for the Big Ten Championship against Ohio State.
