seems like there are alot of unanswered questions so I will reserve judgement. But yes, if true I hope Teo suffers as much as his "alleged" girlfriend.

The institution of Notre Dame will destroy the life of the unsuspecting 22 yr old girl whose pictures were used to create this fake profile. The guy who created this fake profile knows the Te'o family, according to the deadspin article. He will be destroyed as well. The inquisition is about to begin anew.

Sympathy. This is something that has taken ahold of today's society. What a pathetic twit if true. I hope he goes undrafted, but not likely.

Hard to believe he new nothing about the hoax. Spent hours on the phone, hard to believe. Does't look good.

I'm going to say that the ESecPN helped embellish it, and the lie was perpetuated... tisk tisk.

At this point the only unsettling thing I can accuse Teo of doing is counting some girl he texts and talks with on the phone, but never meets in person, as his girlfriend. That's just wierd and kind of disturbing. I also have a hard time believing Teo didn't know what was going on. But we'll see what the investigation uncovers.

I have to give Te'o the benefit of the doubt. He has way too much to lose to be in on a stunt like this. It makes no sense. I also find it very odd for a guy that has never physically met a woman to refer to her as his girlfriend. But everyone is different. It does kind of point to why he had such a motivated, driven regular season then really suck in the national title game. I think he is being honest. But Notre Dame and Te'o should have come forward with the truth much earlier. Even if it would have been the focus of much of the title game. If what Te'o is saying is true, his only mistake is that of being too trusting, naive and big-hearted. But then again I could be too trusting and naive and be proven completely wrong.

I have no idea where the truth is on this one. But if he tried to perpetuate such a hoax in order to garner more support for the Heisman, then shame on him.

I'm kind of going along the lines of trying to get sympathy votes for his Heisman chace...

Yay...I get to laugh at Notre Dame some more!  It never gets old.  Something is way off in this whole scenario.  Somebody is going to pay the price for playing the media like a fiddle.

My guess...Teo is at least partly guilty in this situation.  The only question I have is how could he even consider faking love for a girlfriend when he was supposed to be actually grieving for his grandma?  Pretty cold-hearted coming from his corner.  He must not have liked his granny very much.

I'd like to know who the girl is that he spent hours on the phone with him while they slept and visited.  Somebody else is guilty in this if he was really duped.  And I have a hard time believing it can go this long and he not know what was going on.  Just sayin.

He may have never talked to the girl.  He may have gotten punked so bad that he started fibbing about the conversations he was having because he was tired of questions about her he was getting from family, friends and teammates.  How embarrassed would you feel to never meet your gf of 3 years.

If he was gay why would he kill her off? He suddenly stopped being gay?

I'd kill her off during the Championship game. 

He's a top ten pick. He knew this 3 years ago and had it planned out that long ago.

Exactly...guys that are future top 10 picks should not have problems getting laid.  He seems like he is hiding things simply because he is the fool in a situation that anybody else would have figured out a lot sooner or avoided from the get-go.

So now we have a former Notre Dame player with the Cardinals saying he's met the alleged "girfriend" before, and on the other side we have former ND teammates saying they all knew Teo's "girlfriend" wasn't real and Teo was just playing along because he loved attention. And we have the "friend" in CA who allegedly masterminded this whole thing saying he's 80% sure Teo was participating in the hoax. Personally, there's too many people with knowledge of this hoax for Teo to claim he knew nothing about it until a few weeks ago. I'm trying to reserve judgement but the more and more that comes out, the more Teo looks really bad.

Personally, I think he's got issues based on the fact that he claims a girl he never met (only talked and texted to) as his girlfriend and allows the media to make it a big story so people will have compassion for him. It's just deplorable.
