What Would Be The Score if Iowa Played Alabama?

What Would Be The Score if Iowa Played Alabama?

Seeing what you see tonight of Alabama, and seeing what we last saw of Iowa in their final game 5 or 6 weeks ago, what would be the score of an Iowa-Alabama game played at a neutral site?

Look at the Notre Dame team.  They are loaded with big, fast athletic players, and they are getting abused by Bama.

The gap in talent, size, and athleticism between the team Iowa fielded last year, and Alabama is enormous.

In all seriousness, I think if you removed the starting 22 players, Alabama's second unit would still beat Iowa by at least 3 touchdowns.

LOLtre Dame is sure tackling like Iowa's D tonight.

my 5 favorite apologists responses:
5) you're not a real fan if you don't like Ferentz.
4) this is nothing compared to the "bad ol' days".
3) did you like Ferentz in 2002-2004,2009?
2) we're just little ol' Iowa
1) do you think you could do better?

The Hawkeye offense seems to be easily as effective as Notre Dame.  Iowa could rack up zero points in 30 minutes without breaking sweat,

Remember the old Globetrotters cartoon back in the 70's....Curly would be fed  basketballs in rapid progression one after another that he would hook shot through the basket at a clip of about 5 buckets per second.  The numbers on the scoreboard turned over so fast the dang thing exploded.  I think you see where I'm headed with all this.

And yet KF beat Saban's loaded team 1-year removed from a NC. Sure it was ages ago but he did.

ND isn't out-talented, they simply haven't shown up today. It happens sometimes.

The real question is how bad would Satan put it on Urb and the Buckeyes if they weren't inelidgeable this year! I would've loved to see the Buckeyes get rolled by Bama.

I am no even going there with you....would love if Iowa had Meyer and was inheir position right now.  They will own the Pig Pen conference and be playing for mutiple NC's in no time flat!  I am jealous of hell of the Buckeeys given our slop bucket.

Right, put a bunch of two and three star recruits against the Tide and they would have to call the game at halt time due to the mercy rule!

Add another 3 TDs to tonight's score and I think it's in the ballpark.

Probably about 70-0 is what Im guessing. We wouldnt score against that defense and would set a record for 3 and outs!!

Unfortunately, the score would be whatever Alabama wanted it to be.

Also, I think this is correct, but would appreciate being enlightened if it is not:

If Ohio State had not been declared ineligible for post-season play (and if the Buckeyes defeated Nebraska in the B1G championship game), Alabama wouldn't have had the opportunity to roll over the Irish.  The BCS championship would have been between undefeated Notre Dame and undefeated Ohio State, with Alabama and Oregon watching.

Re: What Would Be The Score if Iowa Played Alabama?

Gameplan:
1) consider punting on First down...no way to lose yardage

2) Hail mary every play.  Hey, we might catch one, we might get a pass interference, and an incomplete pass doesn't lose yardage...think positive!

3) In one endzone make a FG size poster of JVB's mom...perhaps that would distract Bama's stingy D.

4) Have another monster poster of JVB shooting BEAR bryant.  Perhaps, they'll cry.

5) Psych out AL by showing we score better on the Iowa Basic Skills Test.

6) Have a third stadium size poster of Warren Holloway saying, "Hey Nick, remember me?!"

7) Let the winners of the Dr Pepper QB and K contests play for AL in the second half.

Chant: Our coach makes almost much as yours, nana boo boo!!

In the end, Iowa prevails...

6-2.

The SEC always gets unfair advantages by playing bowl games close to home and never having to travel.  If the game was played in Iowa in January, the Hawks would win because they are better adapted to cold weather. Alabama wouldn't be able to play in the cold.

There is some truth to the cold part. Think Orange Bowl and a GT team that looked like it needed thawing.

Give me Iowa and 35 pts. I'd take that.

I am beinf dead serious when I say this...can ANYONE remember the last time Iowa threw a Hail Mary?????  I honestly cannot.  We are either to scared to move the ball the extra 20 yards toward mid-field before half (no matter the score), or down by too much at the end of game to even matter.

Re: What Would Be The Score if Iowa Played Alabama?

NW in Evanston back in 2007?  Stross caught a td off the tip at the back of the endzone as time expired before half.  It was successful so that is why we don't run it anymore!

And no, the Tate to Holloway pass was not a Hail Mary, we just got lucky Tate threw deep, LSU defender left him to run loose down the middle right while he went to the flat for some mysterious reason while our coaching staff had no clue the game was over with that play and three timeouts in their back pocket that they took to the hotel bar later that night!

Hail Mary? Are you serious? That's too sexy. It seems we need to master the two minute drill before graduating to a Hail Mary!

No not seriously. For years I have ridiculed that thought on this board. Sarcasm abounds.

42 to 6.  Iowa has a great field goal kicker.  I doubt alabama would pour it on.

This thread reminds me of some of the worthless debates on Mike and Mike in the Morning on ESPN. What would be the score? 70-6. Yep, Iowa gets a couple of garbage field goals at the end. Bama puts their third stringers in before halftime up 63-0. Complete and total disaster.

I cannot believe the logic of posters!!!  It is clear to me that not only would Iowa beat Alabama, the Hawks should have been considered for a top ten ranking.  Afterall...

Alabama lost to Texas A&M
Texas A&M lost to Florida
Florida lost to Louisville
Louisville lost to  Syracuse
Syracuse lost to Minnesota
Minnesota lost to Iowa
Iowa = National Champs.     eek1eek1eek1

I don't understand how some if not all of you come to your conclusions. The Hawks would score a minimum of 75. I go 75-68 Hawks.

Oh, wait this is the football forum, sorry.

56-3. Bama. No, check that...We wouldn't get the field goal because Ferentz decided to punt from Bamas 15 yard line.

And of course after the game Ferentz would say: "It's not like this is a dog crap team."
