KF to the Cheifs is looking like a strong possibility.
According to sources via twitter and NFL networrk. Scott Pioli will remain GM under conditions he will bring in a new coach and quarterback. And KF is his number one choice.

Re: KF to the Cheifs is looking like a strong possibility.
Why would KFz take a pay cut and less secure shorter term contract to take the Chiefs' job? Besides, the KC fans would kill the GM if he brought in KFz. Its not going to happen.

Re: KF to the Cheifs is looking like a strong possibility.
Not only would it be a less secure short term contract working for a GM who could be fired anytime, he would be putting his oldest son, who just had his first grandchild, into unemployment. And leaving his youngest son, a walk-on, to be coached by someone unknown who might cut him from the team.

Re: KF to the Cheifs is looking like a strong possibility.
Heard from a league source last night that Scott Pioli will survive in KC, but only with significant changes (new coach, new QB). We'll see.Jason Cole @JasonColeYahoo
On KC: Pioli's best to stay w #Chiefs is to bring in #Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz. Hear Iowa coaches are calling around, inquiring about jobs Ian Rapoport @RapSheet
***This would support the rumor that Soup and Erb were out looking for jobs, which was posted here earlier this week
If Pioli gets another chance in KC, it could be w/the coach he wanted all along - Kirk Ferentz. Again, nothing completely certain there yet.Albert Breer @AlbertBreer

Re: KF to the Cheifs is looking like a strong possibility.
Barta probably gave KF a contract guaranteeing the money, even IF he goes to the NFL. And KF would take Brian with him, to KC, if he did indeed get that job offer. So Brian Ferentz wouldnt be unemployed for long.

Re: KF to the Cheifs is looking like a strong possibility.
Why in hell would the Chiefs want a coach that is not up to date with football.? KF is no longer considered a successful coach. His window for leaving for NFL is LONG gone

Re: KF to the Cheifs is looking like a strong possibility.
this thread appeared last year. I didn't get my hopes up then and I'm not going to now.
---- my 5 favorite apologists responses: 5) you're not a real fan if you don't like Ferentz. 4) this is nothing compared to the "bad ol' days". 3) did you like Ferentz in 2002-2004,2009? 2) we're just little ol' Iowa 1) do you think you could do better?

Re: KF to the Cheifs is looking like a strong possibility.
If KF didn't go after his Orange Bowl win, he ain't ever going! This is almost laughable. He has shown that the game has passed him by in college, he'd never be able to adjust to the nfl when he can't do it in college.
Pretty sure hell would freeze over first!

If this was only a rumor, you would think he would put out an announcement or message Given where we are in recruiting, uncertainty is terrible for us

The worst thing about all of this is more commits will be gone and KF will still be here.

KF could careless about the fan base or what we think...especially in times like this. According to his little world...we are doing just fine.

doggie99 wrote: If this was only a rumor, you would think he would put out an announcement or message Given where we are in recruiting, uncertainty is terrible for us It's a little premature to say you are not interested in a job when the person who currently has the job has not even been fired yet. Ferentz has never responded to rumors started on twitter and message boards and he is unlikely to start now. For all we know, the same people starting this rumor also started the rumors that Florida State, Clemson, and Miami agreed to join the Big 12 and that Virginia and Georgia Tech agreed to join the Big 10.

Don't worry, he won't be leaving...
Barta will extend his contract to year 2025 with a salary bump.

Re: KF to the Cheifs is looking like a strong possibility.
I'm scared. I was REALLY, REALLY hoping Barta would be long gone before it came time to hire a new Head Coach. I'm not liking the prospects of Barta getting that hire right. I'd give him a 30% chance of hiring a better coach than Careful.

Re: KF to the Cheifs is looking like a strong possibility.Re: KF
For those of you who state that he isn't a hot NFL commodity, you would be wrong, simply because his name is being brought up, as well as many of the "experts" have him in their college top 5. I don't get it by and large myself, but the info is out there. Furthermore, I think he is "out of touch" with the college game, NOT the NFL. His ability to put guys into the league, especially ones that have sustainability is worth something. His demeanor sure as hell fits the NFL more so than college. I would love to see this to get him out of here, but my guess is it is rather unlikely, and my confidence in Barta to find a suitable replacement is somewhere around zero.

Yeah...ill bet there was a lot of joy in the Locker room this season.....losing is so fun....I'm sure the players were ready to do group hugs after some of the ass whippings this year. I'm sure the players were happy with all the boneheaded, scared coaching they witnessed firsthand.

Re: KF to the Cheifs is looking like a strong possibility.
Just a thought- it seems as though the General Manager (KF's friend), is on the hot seat but will stay on board this year but is on a short leash with the owner. Would KF want to go into a situation like that with the possibility of a short tenure if things don't get turned around quickly?

If KF gave a damn about this team he would come out immediately and deny any involvement with this rumor, but if history is any indication he won't say a thing.

So your thesis is this: The head football coach at the University of Iowa "doesn't give a damn" about the team he coaches". I assume the corollary is that he cares not for the University as well. I find that hard to believe... Extremely hard to believe.

There gets to be a place and time that change is needed. Hopefully, KF realizes that that time is now!
