It could be worse. We could be ISU going to a bowl game

It could be worse. We could be ISU going to a bowl game

Where you have to practice in the snow to get ready for a team you already beat once.  No thanks I'd rather stay home than be in ISU's shoe's.  Not a slam on ISU, I just think a bowl game in the snow against a team you had defeated earlier in the season is no reward at all.

Beats staying home...by a LONG shot. Not a slam at Iowa, either, but staying home during bowl season is the pits.

The future at QB for ISU is a RS freshman who will be making what amounts to his 3rd career start at the liberty bowl.  Getting a couple weeks worth of reps at the ISU indoor practice facility is pretty valuable to his growth, along with another games worth of snaps.

Sucks its against Tulsa, but ISU was senior heavy this year and next years starters can use the reps.

Hint hoggeye...don't put in your ISU in your opening post. Otherwise you attract clown sh*t.

Good luck to ISU.  I hope they pass Ricky Stanzi on the all-time bowl wins list.

Unfortunately I wish we were playing anywhere than staying home. Lets face it,staying home sucks. I does suck that ISU has faced this team before. You would think the powers to be could of done a better job at that.

This thread is a pitiful display of jealousy and sour grapes.  Mods -- I suggest it be deleted immediately.  It makes this board -- and specifically the OP -- look small and pathetic.

You guys are idiots!!

The extra practice for Bowl prep and appearing in a bowl game is important for teams that need to develop talent and recruit...Don't be Morons.

LOL, yeah...more reps...more practice time...the seniors get one more game...I can see your point...but we won't have to bitch about KF and his game planning...the run right then left, and then pass for 2 yards short of the 1st...I guess it is a positive! excited

They are only in the game because their current powers to be did a better job that their old powers to be and got ISU in the game when Vandevelde (or something like that) turned down the Liberty Bowl in the first place.

As much as I don't like the Clones or their AD, he did a good job of getting them into a bowl game period when it looked like they were going to be passed over even though they had the required wins.

The extra practices would be a welcome sight in Iowa City right about now.  I just hope that the Golden Hurricanes get their revenge on the Clones.

Iowa State's only competition for a Liberty Bowl invitation was Louisiana Tech.  It shouldn't take much for a Big 12 AD to get his team invited to a bowl instead of a team from the recently disintegrated WAC.

Silver lining is the coaching staff can be out recruiting the entire time instead of having to deal with that tiresome task of bowl prep!

IF you read the OP I said " not a slam at ISU ".  I doubt if any of you " clowns " and I mean Hawkeye Clowns not Cyclowns, would shell out $ 70.00 for a ticket to go sit in the 20 degree snow in Memphis on New Years eve to watch the Hawks play Northern Iowa over again. Not sour grapes to the Clones.  I feel bad that they have to play a team they already beat on their home field once.  No win situation for them.  That extra practice helped Johnson a lot by the way.  That extra practice is overrated. At least all our extra practices haven't helped us lately. I guess there are 4 worse cities in which to play but no bowls available however.noidea

"...would shell out $ 70.00 for a ticket to go sit in the 20 degree snow in Memphis on New Years eve..."

Best estimates from the Cyclone AD at this point are....around 25,000 Cyclones are doing exactly that. The Liberty Bowl has a long tradition, and while its a lower level bowl...its still a bowl and is a nice bonus for the end of the season. The extra practice alone is invaluable for developing the young guys...there's really no downside.

Guess we'll have to settle for beating you...AGAIN...and actually going to a bowl.

At least you guys have something to aspire to in 2013...though it seems an unlikely goal for you heading into next season.

Says the guy whose team is loaded with senior starters.  Didn't Rhoads call this the best ISU team he's yet had?  And all they were good for is 6-7 with a bowl loss to TULSA?  Holy hell, even when you guys are "good" you're friggin awful.

LOL, with KF at the helm it won't be that hard...and when you guys are even worse than the losing 6-7 season next year and when we beat you what will you say then...??? Good comeback!

Yes, and next year's team will be even better...which spells trouble for your boys.

And while 6-7 and a bowl loss is nothing to brag about, it is much better than 4-8 and staying at home. So its relative, I'd say. More importantly, one program is ascending whilst the other declines.  I won't tell you which is which.. but do you think you can make a non-laughable argument that Iowa is "ascending"?
