I don't know that KF should stay, the only decision he actually made in the last 13 years was picking these pathetic coordinators!

Re: Kirk Ferentz: stay or go?

That's your solution?  Keep the man who hired/promoted the two dolts you want fired?

You think he's going to do better on his choices the second time around?  He'll go out and get two more yes men who will run his idiot, dinosaur brand of football and not have the guts to stand up to him, content that they have jobs as they won't be wanted elsewhere.

I never voted. Why vote for something that has no chance of happening?

Was pretty upset about 2010 and 2011, am very unhappy with this year.  However, for all that Coach has done at Iowa, I give hime one more year before I give up on him.  If next year bombs like this season, then we better be really, REALLY worried!!

No, it's kind of like saying, "my wife has been making really terrible meatloaf the last couple years".  "I'm giving her one more chance to make a good meatloaf, then I'm going to start ordering take-out".

Re: Kirk Ferentz: stay or go?

I've been a KF supporter, but now I think he should go. How is a weak Iowa good for the league? I have just given up on KF to right things once again. I understand the buyout is daunting, but there have been cases elsewhere like this, when a longstanding coach who has sort of lost it is convinced by fans/admin to do the right thing for the institution he loves, and at a substantial haircut on the way out.

If it were not for his contract thru 2012, He would be GONE.
With his current contract.
It will never happen.

Guys, I know you're down on the team this year, but be patient with KF. Remember Paterno had those down years in the early 2000s, then came back and was #3 in the country. KF has done a lot for Iowa. Better times are ahead. I know sports isn't a realm where patience comes easy, but be patient. You're lucky to have a good coach.

Is there any way possible to fire the entire coaching staff?

Wanting one coach to go isn't an argument to retain another coach.

Re: Kirk Ferentz: stay or go?

Been a Hawk fan over 50 years, never thought I'd type this on a keyboard, and I wanted to wait until after the cornshucker game to answer the poll....... but its time. This is not the first year of decline, coaching wise, recruiting wise and administrative wise, its the third year of decline.

Doubt if we will see a new coach this year, but another year like this one and Bartas hands will be tied. Id like to see some emotion from the next coach, I'd take Dan McCartney in a heartbeat. Maybe even Beliema. Problem is, Iowa is not a top "coaching destination" and getting a good coach from outside the family might be tough.

I hear we can't afford to get rid of him. A man of honor would step down and forgive his contract obligations. He's gained more from being here than he ever deserved already. Why hold us to $20 million more just to leave? Because he can.

174 you have it backwads,  you mean your wife hasn't been cheating on you and you are sick of how wide her behind has grown.  now you are thinking about cheating.  kirk has always been committed to this program.

Keep him.
He has earned the chance to get us back up to a bowl game. He needs to work on clock management though.

Typical response...hey he's been there through thick and thin for us so let's keep him to see us get back to a bowl game...any bowl game...just a bowl game would be good for me...hey 7-5 maybe 8-4..and if we're lucky the 9-3 or 10-2 or 11-1 season might just might come along...but hey I'm happy with any ol bowl game...I know he hasn't given us a Rosebowl or an outright B10 champ but hey he's a good guy that loves to chew gum...

Sorry MC he's not cutting it here...just look at the last 3 years...he's stayed too long and look at next year...

I thought he earned his chance after the 2006-07' debacle and it was a good choice. But there were conditions on that, as far as I was concerned, that we werent going to be right back in this position, again. In fact, its worse this time around.
I'm not on board any longer. Its time to look beyond the handful of great seasons and realize there were twice as many mediocre ones.

for what its worth 5 of are 8 losses this year we lost by a touchdown or less i know it doesnt make a bit of difference now but we win a couple of those close games and this is a completely different ending to the season and maybe if we would of won a couple of those close games we would of have more confidence and pull off and upset but again we need a change on offense. we need to score points and take the pressure off are D.

RE: Kirk Ferentz: stay or go?

The average tenure of a college coach is less than 4 years for a reason....it is time to sever the Tate-to-holloway umbilical cord and get a new coach. KF did great things for Iowa football in taking over a team that needed a complete rebuild, and he is a great ambassador for the u of I. but since Jan 1, 2005 we have gotten about two years worth of good memories (2008 psu game thru the 2010 mich St beat down), and it is pretty clear that going forward the team talent and coaching prowess appears to be questionable at best. We are in a rebuild mode, and might as well try a fresh face as head coach a la 1999.

Hayden fry was considered an innovator in college football....until the seven step qb drop became obsolete. Even the greats need to move on when the game passes them by, and kf is no exception. Jw

If you are going to play that game, you could say the same thing about the 2009 season. We won 5 games by 3 points or less. If we lose a couple of those games, we dont go to the Orange Bowl and we KF doesnt get to double digit wins that season.
So that conversation is pointless. I'm not into moral victories.

We could easily put up the 30 mil but Barta would basically be signing the death warrant on his career. So that wont happen. Barta has to be fired first. Sally Mason wants athletics at Iowa to fail, so she wont fire her incompetent puppet.

The KF apologists wanted Tate to go.  They're all about the "classy".

My co-worker said it best:  "I like the people I work with.  That has nothing to do with whether they have earned the right to remain employed here."

It's time for Ferentz to go.

James Vandenberg has been loyal to the program and shown great character as well, but do you want him as our Quarterback next year?

Ferentz has been with Iowa 14 years.  I think he's used up all of his "he deserves one more year" cards.  It's like your child when they are avoiding going to bed.  They always want just one more drink of water, or one more story; but they have no intention of going to bed.  Such is the case with Ferentz' supporters.

Definitely go. I respect him as a man but after year in and year out of slow and lazy football, a change is needed.
