What makes this year the worst in 30 years

What makes this year the worst in 30 years

This is by far the worst B10 I have ever seen. And we missed two of the best.

At least when Fry had a down year he was playing In a tough B10.

I am convinced Ferentz is a horrible coach, who got extremely lucky. Norm's defense won us many many games.

1999 is the worst.. and the big ten might have a team that could contend for the national championship, even tho they can't go

1999 was a transition year. Not nearly as bad ad this joke of a team.

I have never witnessed a team play as lousy at the game of football as this one. It is seriously a crap ass of a team from top to bottom and that falls on the coaches. Would be stoked of we canned them all.

This team plays with no enthusiasm or excitement.  I,optimistically thought prior to the season, due to the favorable scehdule, Iowa could go 8-4 and at worst 7-5.  Every team has injuries so I don't buy that excuse.  Te total lack of team speed is just so obvious. I'm still a die-hard Hawk fan and I guess now is as good a time as any to start looking forward to next year.

What makes it the worst is that there is very little to look forward to next season. It seems to me that recruiting has been poor for last 5 years or more. Over that period of time Iowa has gotten slower, weaker, less quick and smaller relative to the rest of the Big 10. For example, Iowa has never been terribly fast but I remember in those past years that they were always one of the biggest offensive lines in the Big 10 (and the country). That is no longer true and hasn't been for several years. This team is small, weak, has no speed with limited skills. Where are the recruits?? Why is there no "pipeline" to Florida, Texas, California??? The prior staff was together for 12 years, seems like those inroads into areas with talent that just doesn't exist in Iowa should have been there and maintained. A certain compacency occurs when the head coach is paid among the top ten in the country and the two coordinators make somewhare between $300,000 and $500,000 plus.

Iowa has some great players, but so do the other teams.  To me what makes this year the worst in a long time is Norm Parker got sick and then had to retire last year.  Great coaches don't come around that often.   I doubt ferentz will be that successful without a Norm Parker defense.   Iowa hasn't really been that good in the last three years, and the one common ingredient is Norm Parker got sick.
