Does anyone know the process for a Rams Club member to let the staff know about a nice sophomore prospect in my area?

Send an email with information on the player or call the office and leave a message. The number is in the University directory

The five lady class we got is absolutely insane. North Carolina is in great shape for years. Does anyone know how we can fit 5 new scholarship players on the roster? My counts shows only room for four max.

Re: Recruiting Board

goheelsfrank, we have 5 seniors on the roster. Alex Miller, Heather Claytor, Laura Barry, Iman McFarland, and Rashanda McCants. The only one is question is Laura but I am pretty sure she is on scholarship.

I agree this class is ill, not sick! If all can stay healthy and develop along with good coaching, we should be hanging a few national championship banners in our gymnasium.

Thanks, I was under the impression Laura was not on scholarship. There are 16 kids on roster and I thought the nob-scholarship people were DeWitt, Powell and Barry.

Re: Recruiting Board

Krista Gross and Tierra Ruffin-Pratt both had season ending injuries. Krista was a hip injury and Tierra reinjured a shoulder in the playoffs that has plagued her for several years.

As to next years class every position is covered except pg. As we all know it is difficult to predict a freshmans impact on program but with what we have returning and what potential we have coming in it would be hard for me not to see how this team at least on paper is not one of the best in the nation.

Re: Recruiting Board

Soothe me baby, what is the latest in recruit news?

Lauren White, Ronika Ransford, Ariel Bursey, Ariel Johnson, Cierra Burdich, Amber Henson. Where are they likely to go? Some of these players are '11s. But what are the chances for coming to the Hill?

Re: Recruiting Board

Cierra Burdick, a 6'2" sophomore wing from Matthews, NC, is focused on three schools: North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

From ESPN: "Burdick said she wants to stay close to her family, and likely won't make a commitment until next year, after taking a series of unofficial visits."

Re: Recruiting Board

What one thing doesn't belong in this picture. UNC, Tenn, and little carolina all in the picture for an elite WBB recruit. Until Ms. Bone declared for them I would have never given them a second thought as a serious contender but I have to say they will be a player if they are able to lure that type of talent.

Re: Recruiting Board

Given the comments of Ms. Burdick and the commitment of Ms. Bone, it appears that Dawn Staley is on the way to making little carolina a major player.

Re: Recruiting Board

Every time I look back at this phenomenal class (+ Wood off redshirt), I can't wait for the season to get underway. Last season became a bit frustrating as the team hit an obvious ceiling without quality outside shooting. I am hoping to see the Heels improve from 15' and out this season, but you could also see quite a monstrous game in the paint.

Re: Recruiting Board

FYI, an older story on Waltia. Sorry if already posted:

Westbury Christian’s strong start
Westbury Christian’s 23-0 start is nothing short of incredible, and it’s not like the Lady Wildcats haven’t faced the best-of-the-best during the perfect beginning.

They won last week’s Katy ISD Invitational starting with victories over Cy Falls, Morton Ranch, Katy Taylor and HCYA, and in the championship finals, Westbury Christian stomped the state’s top-ranked UIL Class 5A team, Dulles, 78-56.

Dulles was also ranked No. 5 nationally by USA today, so the 22-point triumph certifies Westbury Christian as the best team in the area territory and evidently well beyond.

“It was a great team win against a top-notch opponent, and even though we went in feeling that we could beat Dulles, I don’t think any realistic person felt we could come out as string as we did in the first half,” Westbury Christian coach Reed Sutton said.

“We jumped out 19-6 in the first quarter, and led 39-15 at halftime, and even though they cut the lead to 15 in the third period, we held them off the rest of the way.”

Amber Orrange was everywhere for the Lady Wildcats against Dulles with 22 points, eight rebounds, six assists and five steals, Jakeveya Mitchell added 21 points and four assists, Waltie Rolle had 18 points and eight boards, and Sonja Vuong dished out nine assists to go along with seven points.

In all, Westbury Christian had 21 assists against a Dulles team that came with the No. 2-ranked player in the country in Kelsey Bone, Lamar University signee Jasmine Henderson, and a 13-0 record.

Rolle averaged 19 points and 15 rebounds in the five tournament games, and against HCYA, she finished with 28 points and 21 rebounds, and in the championship game, Rolle and Maddy Absher limited Bone to 17 points with most coming on jump shots, according to Sutton.

Re: Recruiting Board

I followed Waltia's senior campaign closely and I am convinced she is going to be a special player. She hasn't reached anywhere near her ceiling considering her taking up the game so late.

^Good to hear -- she really does sound like a kid with nearly unlimited ceiling. The thoughts of having Rolle and Shegog play together for 2-3 years (not sure how much time Rolle will see this season) is really exciting.

Re: Recruiting Board

With the recent news regarding Jessica I would think Ms. Rolle and Ms. Warren will probably get more minutes than originally planned.

Re: Recruiting Board

You guys are going to love Cierra Warren. I can't think of anybody off the top of my head who she reminds me of, but she is a true 6'3 with a great ACC ready body. She's lean yet strong and is a physcial banger. I wouldn't compare her to Larkins because she is taller and in better shape. She stays primarily in the paint, not much perimeter skills. She is just a banger with a soft touch in the paint. Is a true PF in college.

Re: Recruiting Board

Cierra is the type that was the missing piece from this past year. There were too many times that we were just out muscled for balls last year. Erlana wouldn't have allowed that and hopefully Cierra carries that same mentality.

Thanks for sharing.

Re: Recruiting Board

Ditto, thanks for the info. Sounds like the Heels should be stacked in the post, though even with the news on Jessica I figured that Cierra is the more college-ready player than Waltia (and thus would get the lions-share of freshman post minutes), but that was speculation on my part.

It looks like the Terps have landed themselves a top 10 recruit, in 2010 SG Laurin Mincy out of Newark, New Jersey.

I don't know anything about Laurin so this isn't meant to be a disparaging remark but I will take Bria and be quite happy with the exchange.

Re: Recruiting Board

Laurin is a baller. She is long and smooth....She's only 5'11 but she plays like one of those 6'1 do it all lean small forwards. She is as good of a shooter as anyone in the 2010 Class and is an athletic 2, 3 player. She's also a good kid from a sometimes rough area. She looks taller than 5'11 with her long arms and legs.

And I want Bria! =D

It sounds as though Md got a good one. I think Bria is on a lot of wish lists this year. It is a shame we don't have the coverage here that they have on the mens side. We would know what she likes to eat, what colors she wears the most, as well as any close friends or confidants that could/would help with her decision.
