Has anyone other than the IH paid attention to the current exploits of the Tar Heels 2009 freshman class? Which was rightfully ranked as the #2 recruiting class in the country, with 5 top 100 ranked players in the country coming out of high school.

Tierra Ruffin-Pratt (#9), Krista Gross (#23), Waltia Rolle (#28), Cierra Warren (#31), and Nyree Williams (#88).

That lethal combination of offense, defense, passing, scoring, and rebounding at every one of the five positions, coming into North Carolina two years after Ivory Latta's reign.

The update: Warren might be close to done; Williams is back on the court at Towson University, after doing what she does last season before breaking her hand at the end of last season.
And Ruffin-Pratt, Gross, and Rolle are back and ready to pick it back up for UNC, Ruffin-Pratt and Gross after rehabbing injuries, and Rolle returns after pregnancy.

NOW what for Carolina? Five duds?

My crystal ball says a 3 spot in the ACC come March and if the Terps guard situation goes South look out.

Wally will be ACC DPOY and Tierra will end up on one of the all ACC teams

Well for the ones that remain Krista TRP and Wally I think this is the year we might just finally see what all the hype was about...We know this is the first year all could be healthy....the first year Wally doesnt share time with Chay....and the first year TRP will have the ball in her hands...the year those that want to point fingers either get their vindication or pie in the face.

To be honest Cierra never bought into div 1 bball I dont think. She had decent numbers at Louisville but left midseason. Nyree wanted a better fit and PT. She was a defensive standout but her shot was suspect. I really liked her potential and she had decent stats for Towson avg 7 rbs per game but struggled on the offensive side. Her length and athletism was top tier though. I suspect she will emerge as one of their top players.

All in all this class had some very good players. Hopefully they can remain healthy. Will their legacy be the injuries and off court issues that define them or will this year change the perception. For the ones that remain I think they will have a chance to make their detractors rethink. Just an opinion.
