I may be wrong (wouldn't be the first time), but when I look at our roster I can't help but feel like next year is going to be a BIG, BIG year. Our pitching depth is an embarrassment of riches. And I think we've added more offense than we lost in terms of the incoming freshmen and tranfers.

Obviously, games are won and lost on the field. Season are made or broken there, too. But we look like we could be really, really good from the very beginning of the season.

Agree; several friends and I were talking the other day about how deep this team is in almost every position. Quality depth at that.

Just from watching what I could of the FWS, I'd say there are probably 3-5 positions still open/ up for grabs, just because of the tight competition.

This has the makings of a very VERY special season!

Agreed that it has that feeling. Of course, every January I think we're gonna win the national title so I'm a poor judge.

I'm the same way, but I just can't ever remember the team having so many quality players that can play all aspects of the game so well.

I know what you mean...but I'm having a really hard time convincing myself that I'm being too optimistic this time :).

Totally agree, good call. I have an early man crush on Skye Bolt too.

I only saw two of the FWS games, but they were filled with errors and mental mistakes. Honestly, I would have thought that players competing for roster spots would have been a little more sharp.

That said, maybe the competition caused some jitters that caused some errors. You guys are right, lots of talent out there to be sure, cut down on the errors, and I think we see a very special season.

Benton Moss seemed to struggle. I feel like that Benton being late getting back to practice, and not throwing all summer has a lot to do with that. We will need him to come back to form!

jhicks, I agree with you about the depth and potential for this year's team. We know about Colin, Russell, Cody, Chaz, Parks, Zengel, Zolk, Holbie, etc and the pitching returning of Kent, Benton, Chris and Taylor, among others but the FROSH have really impressed me. They have the potential to put us over the top, talent-wise.
I also agree that it is hard not to flip out over Skye! He has that "it" factor which few have.

I think your statement about adding more offense than we lost gets my vote for understatement of the year so far! Let's hope these guys can do in the spring like they showed in the fall.
