Re: FWS Game 5 Live Analysis
It's Family Day during the FWS as each player is getting a 'shout out' with a microphone to his family in attendance.
A great catch ends the top of the frame by Zach Daly on a ball that Moran dropped right near his feet.
No score heading to the bottom of the first.

Re: FWS Game 5 Live Analysis
Bolt leads off for the White team and grounds out to short. However, it was a close play as Bolt is showing off his speed out of the box.
One hit in the bottom of the first and some smooth fielding by Raburn and Lassiter to end the inning.
No score heading to the second.

Re: FWS Game 5 Live Analysis
Daly showing his range in right stealing a hit away from Holberton. He really does cover a lot of ground and gets and excellent jump on the ball. The alignment of the outfield this season and who earns a starting position will be very interesting to see.
Raburn with a shot off the glove of Matt Campbell at third for the first base hit for the Blue team on the day. Medium lead for Raburn at first and Emanuel does not throw over. Parks Jordan at the plate.
Emanuel with a nasty slider on the outside to Jordan. Emanuel with a slide step 'balk' move to first and Raburn is back easily.
Jordan flies out to short to end the inning.
No score heading to the bottom of the second.

The White team in their first jam of the day, with Atwood on second after stealing from first. Lassiter hit by pitch to bring up Moran. Count ran full and Moran grounded out.
No score heading to the top of the third.

Re: FWS Game 5 Live Analysis
Raburn ekes out a base with with two done in the bottom of the third off of Emanuel. Emanuel shows him his 'B' move to first and Raburn has a medium lead and dives back to the bag.
Emanuel picks off Raburn leaning to end the inning.
So far today it has been a heck of a pitchers duel between Johnson and Emanuel at Parent's Day.

Re: FWS Game 5 Live Analysis
In an interesting part of the 'Family Day' presentations going on Coach Jackson just introduced all the scouts in attendance from Major League Baseball and Baseball America. I'm certain they are enjoying the show on the mound today between Johnson and Emanuel.

Re: FWS Game 5 Live Analysis
Atwood strikes out for the second out. He worked the count full taking nasty breaking pitches from Emanuel before striking out.
Massardo singles up the middle for only the fourth hit off of Emanuel on the day. Massardo chased back to the bag with a pick off attempt by Emanuel. Frank digs in at the plate.
Frank strikes out and Emanuel and Johnson continue the deadlock on runs.

Re: FWS Game 5 Live Analysis
The White team gets some small ball in action and scrapes out a pair of runs by moving the runner and a timely hit.
Johnson gave up one hit in the inning but allowed a pair of runs because of a pair of walks.
With the way Emanuel is pitching today ... never mind. Emanuel is done and Luis Paula is in relief of Emanuel with a two run lead for the White team.

Re: FWS Game 5 Live Analysis
Paula allows a base hit to Landon Lassiter to right on the first pitch.
Medium lead for Lassiter as Moran comes to the plate. Wild pitch allows him to advance to thrid.
Another wild pitch scores Lassiter from third for the Blue team's first run of the afternoon.
Roberts walks on four pitches bringing Holberton to the plate. Roberts takes a couple of steps in a secondary lead asDunbar goes out to chat with Paula.
Holberton flies out to Bolt in center for the second out.
Another wild pitch and Roberts advances to second.
Nice dig at short by Russell and a great stretch from Stubbs on the off line throw to end the top of the 6th.
Blue trails by a run heading to the bottom of the sixth 2-1.

Re: FWS Game 5 Live Analysis
Paula returns to the mound for the White team. He induces a ground out to Zolk at second for the first out.
He appears to have settled down a bit on the mound and flashed a nice fastball on the inside corner to Atwood who was probably trying to sit on a curve. Atwood has struggled a bit with breaking pitches in the fall but has mammoth power potential. Atwood also appears to have put on 15 pounds of muscle in the off season.
Atwood strikes out for the second out of the inning and Massardo swings at the first pitch and lofts it to left for Zengel.
At the stretch the Blue team trails the White 2-1.

Johnson strikes out Compbell for the first out.
Chaz Frank retreats to deep center for the second out as Zolk flies out.
Hobbs is up to 73 pitches so far today.
Facing Skye Bolt now who grounds out.
Johnson is looking for his offense to pick him up today as the White team continues to lead by a run.

Re: FWS Game 5 Live Analysis
Frank strikes out looking as Paula really has settled down now in relief of the Diamond Heel's ace Friday starter.
Colin Moran strides to the plate and is barely hit by a pitch inside in the leg.
Roberts heads to the plate with Moran on first. Paula ignoring him as Moran takes a big lead for the burly third baseman.
Roberts flies out for the third out.
The White team retains their one run cushion heading to the bottom of the eighth.
Chris McCue heading in relief of Hobbs Johnson for the Blue team.

Re: FWS Game 5 Live Analysis
Michael Russell leads off for the White team and hits a double off the wall in left. I thought that one was gone.
Cody Stubbs lumbers to the plate with Russell on second and no outs. Wild pitch in the dirt and Russell advances to third.
Russell scores on a sacrifice fly from Stubbs and pads the lead and empties the bases as Zengel heads to the plate.
Zengel hits a shot to Frank in left center and Frank can not come up with it cleanly sliding towards left for a single.
Dunbar follows with a double down the line putting runners on second and third with one out.
McCue facing a jam now and a visit to the mound and he's done for the day.

Re: FWS Game 5 Live Analysis
As things stand now a game on Tuesday is looking like more of a certainty. Blue would have to make up a 12 run deficit (by aggregate scoring) to win this series after winning the first series.
Rubino pops out to Atwood at first for the second out.
Zach Daly heads to the plate with runners on second and third with two outs.
O'Brien strikes out Daly to end the threat. White takes a two run lead to the top of the ninth.
Mason McCullough heads out with a save opportunity.

Re: FWS Game 5 Live Analysis
Raburn heads to the plate to face McCullough. McCullough has some nice pop on his fastball today.
MCCullough also appears to have put in a lot of work on his fitness and looks in great shape this fall and his lively fastball also appears in top form.
McCullough blows a heater past Parks Jordan for strike three and the second out. Holberton on second hoping to see Atwood park a shot ... however Atwood plates him with a liner up the middle for a single and cutting the lead down to one.
Massardo heads up to the plate for the Blue team. He is their last hope in the top of the 9th.
Atwood takes a decent lead at first as Massardo takes strike one on the outside corner. Massardo patiently works the count to 3-1 then takes strike two on the outside corner.
Payoff pitch - Stubbs no longer holding Atwood on at first. Fouled off. Massardo walks putting runners on first and second for Chaz Frank.
Trip to the mound...

Landon Lassiter heads to the plate with Frank on second with two down. Quickly falls behind 0-2. Pops out to short to end the frame.
The Blue team takes a one run lead heading to the bottom of the 9th. Chris O'Brien may be able to vulture a win and Trevor Kelley is out for the Blue team now on the mound.

Re: FWS Game 5 Live Analysis
Matt Campbell to face the Wilmington Ashley right handed hurler. Kelley has changed his arm slot this summer and was very effective for his summer team. Will that confidence gained with the Red Birds carry on to the spring?
Parks Jordan races into the gap to snare the first out by Matt Campbell.
Mike "Zoom" Zolk heads to the plate.
Zolk walks and Skye Bolt heads to the plate with one down. Will Zolk try to put himself in scoring position?
Bolt fouls off the first pitch and Zolk was not off with the pitch.
Bolt ducks out of the way and is rung up for strike three and the second out.

Russell keeps hopes alive putting runners on first and second with two down for senior Cody Stubbs.
Fly ball to center and the Blue team wins 4 to 3.

Re: FWS Game 5 Live Analysis
Game 5 Notebook coming later tonight.
Please note that the Blue team would have to win tomorrow by 8 runs to clinch the FWS since the White team put up 14 runs to 5 in the first game of the second series.
This means a high percentage chance of the tie breaker game taking place on Tuesday unless the Blue team smokes the White team tomorrow.
