Re: Live Coverage - Opening Day North Carolina vs Seton Hall

The Diamond Heels are in Carolina Blue tops, white pants, white cap with white cleats and Carolina Blue socks.  I have to admit my heart skipped a beat as I walked into the stadium and saw Seton Hall warming up in a uniform that looked like a variant of the 1970's Carolina Astros inspired get up, until I realized that Carolina was coming out of the dugout.

Lassiter gets the start at second with Russell back at short this afternoon.  Holberton gets the start in left with Bolt getting his first game in right with Frank in center.

It is a beautiful day at the Bosh so far with a light breeze coming in from center.

Re: Live Coverage - Opening Day North Carolina vs Seton Hall

Seton Hall counters with a senior right handed pitcher in Jon Prosinski who went 9-3 last year with a 3.52 ERA.

Seton Hall's starting lineup
1 CF Zach Ganite
2 2B Mike Genovese
3 SS Giuseppe Papaccio
4 1B Sal Annunziata
5 RF Scott Kalamar
6 3B Kyle Grimm
7 DH John Beaubien
8 C  Dillon Hamlin
9 LF Chris Selden
SP RHP Jon Prosinski

It's good to see Seton Hall back in Chapel Hill.  They have played North Carolina in 22 of the last 25 seasons while UNC has a 53-11 record against the Pirates.

Lots of first pitch strikes from Kent. He is painting the corners early with fastballs and working ahead to every batter so far.

And, man, he pitches quickly. Fielders must love that.

0-0 heading to the bottom of the 2nd. Stubbs-Lassiter-Jordan will start the inning for the Tar Heels.

FYI, App State has 2 HR's off Rodon and lead 4-0 in the 2nd. By all acounts the 3 run HR was a BLAST

Bats are quiet so far. And we've had a few hitters counts. Hope the bottom of the order heats them up in the third.

Emanuel plows through the Pirates in the T3. 3 up, 3 down.

I realize the Pirates aren't exactly the 1960s Yankes. But they haven't really had any solid contact through three. Kent looks really good. And VERY efficient.

Bolt singles in his first plate appearance but is picked off on his first steal opp. Kid's got wheels, though.

I hope so but they werent on display there.

He had a great pitch to run on (way inside and low) and the throw was pretty bad (several feet towards first base) and he was still thrown out.

Teams have combined for 3 baserunners, but both pitchers have faced the minimum thru 3. Dont see that too often.

I'm starting to get just a little impatient. I'd like to see us start to rake a little. We really haven't hit the ball worth a lick yet.

RE: Live Coverage - Opening Day North Carolina vs Seton Hall Gam

Impossible to say for sure since we are facing Seton Hall's ace and obviously it's way too early, but I think we can expect many games like this throughout the season. We again have great [and this year really great] pitching, but a lineup that again lacks power and pop and seems a little weak in certain spots.

RE: Live Coverage - Opening Day North Carolina vs Seton Hall Gam

Emmanuel threw a 2 strike pitch that looked like it was right down the middle but the ump didnt see it that way and then the batter gets a hit on very next pitch for the first hit off of Emmanuel

Emanuel seemingly robbed of a SO and then the batter earns Seton Hall's first hit on the next pitch. Emanuel strands him at 1b, though. Still 0-0 heading to the B5.

RE: Live Coverage - Opening Day North Carolina vs Seton Hall Gam

I don't know that I'm that down on this year's lineup. I think we've had several upgrades. And some of the guys (Holby for instance) showed a TON of promise over the summer.

I do think today's lineup has some of our better bats a little low in the order.

Ugggghhhhh...wish the bats would wake up. Nobody has really even hit one on the screws yet through five innings.

Heels looking very feeble at the plate today.

We've only had 1-2 sharply hit balls thru 5 innings and only hit 3 balls out of the infield.

I wonder if some of it is a little tightness from being the #1 team in the nation. WE don't seem aggressive at all at the plate so far.
