2013 TV

Anyone know anything about College/ACC Baseball on TV this year.
IMO TV Sports networks really missing the boat on not showing more games.

It's the ACC that misses the boat. Other leagues get plenty of exposure.

The SEC has a national game of the week again this year on ESPN. The Big 10 Network will televise something like 175 games. Fox is doing 2 games a week for the PAC.

Yet we find ourselves here.....

Call the league office and tell them we'll roll a basketball onto the diamond between innings. That'll perk 'em up.

Re: 2013 TV

This season, I'll be splitting my time between Carolina and UNCW broadcasts; either audio or video, when available. However, my opportunity to watch UNCW games will be much greater.

Why? Because every single UNCW home game is webcasted; as are many of their away games. Sure, I had to spring for a monthly "Hawk Vision" account that runs about $9; but, I'm happy to pay that to watch all of their home games.

It would be nice to have the opportunity to have the same video access to Carolina games; but, evidently, that's not available to us yet.

Re: 2013 TV

I am glad to see some exposure for us, but I have to say this. If TV exposure does for college baseball what is has done for first college basketball then college football, I am 100% against it. I am so sick and tired of seeing Vitale, Seth Curry's Mom and a bunch of blue/red/orange faced students when I am trying to watch a game, I swear last night might be my last for the year.

The problem is once you are on TV, it becomes all about the advertising, not the game, and in order to make more money, you need more VIEWERS, not necessarily fans of the game. Thus all the sideline reporters, human interest stories, announcers repeating stats thrown in their ear that they have no knowledge of etc. In a word, Production. College baseball is such a pure sport and the beauty of Omaha is that they can't ruin it with TV production because it would run contrary to the whole season. I don't see any big changes coming any time soon for college baseball in that respect, and I for one am glad for that. It is really the only major sport that retains anything near its identity from 50 years ago.

Of course I have to admit that I think they would have a much harder time turning baseball into a sport where the key to winning is to get away with the most pushing and shoving of the other team that you can without getting called for a foul or a penalty.........but give the TV guys enough time and they could probably figure it out.
