Kids2Carolina Winter Update and Baseball!!

Our mission at Kids2Carolina is to enrich the lives of underprivileged youth by providing access to a world-class university and state of the art athletic venues. Through attending athletic events and experiencing a “Carolina Game day”, kids in our community will have the opportunity to be a part of a college setting, inspiring them to be on a path to higher education!

First and foremost, I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and a great start to 2013.  Looking back on the year, Kids2Carolina feels like we had a great first year.  We were able to send over 1400 kids to football games this past year.  These are kids that traveled all across the state to come visit UNC, from  southwest Virginia to Asheville and from Boone to Wilmington.

We felt that like that is a great start, but we are no where near satisfied.  We could not have gotten this far without your contribution and we are grateful to have such passionate support.

This spring, we would like to send kids to Boshamer stadium to watch the #1 Baseball team in the land.  We are currently nailing down
logistics with UNC but we are taking donations to help us get kids on to campus so that they can have a unique opportunity to visit a world class educational institution.  If you are interested in donating please visit our website or contact me.

We also of course are accepting basketball and soon, baseball ticket donations which can be mailed to Kids2Carolina, P. O Box 9135 Chapel Hill 27514.  These will either be given directly to kids or auctioned off and in turn the auction money will go to buying more tickets for kids.

We are also looking for anyone who would like to help support the program with their time and effort, please contact me if you have any would like to help out this spring!

You can follow Kids2Carolina on the web:

As you can see we would like to help fill up Bosh and get some kids on campus this spring.

I am not that familiar with the baseball program I would love some help in planning which games would be good for us to send a few dozen kids to (maybe more depending on donations),

Thanks IC!

The cheapest ticket option will be bleacher seats for a non-conference game. However, if you plan to feed them, you might want to look at the outdoor boxes down the first base line. For a non-conference game, you get 13 tickets, and vouchers for 13 hot dogs and 13 drinks for $150. The same box costs $200 for conference games. I think there are at least three boxes available.

Wow, Thanks! Hopefully we can get UNC to cut us a deal for 50+ tickets.

I am sure if you approached ticket offices and/or coaches they would donate tickets for free since it is a charity type function.

If you let me know what game I can give you 2 tickets most likely. Especially if it is a weekday with an afternoon start.

Great that you are doing this for kids. If anybody can help you get things done, it is WMHeel(Travis)

Travis is a great person with a heart of gold, as you must be yourself!

Hey Travis,

I am shooting you an email now.

We would really like to do this, as it is even cheaper than football and we think the kids would have a great time.

Hey United.....how can donate? I don't have UNC "connections" I covered this in another BZ thread lol yesterday, but might be able to donate a little moola since I use to do the Big Brothers, Big Sisters thing....and I use to take one kid from a single parent home to the FB games with me, of course I furnished the cokes and eats during the game, the tix, and lunch or breakfast before the game....it's a good feeling to do that.

I can vouch for Cody (HeelsUnited) and helped some with the football efforts. This is a wonderful thing for the kids. Cody, they would have a blast at the baseball games as it is much more fan friendly and the players will often interact with the kids....a high 5, wave, etc.
We have some great young men on the team......we are blessed!

Travis is a great guy, you may have seen him at the NSD get-together if you did not know who he was prior.
