Yeah I think the recruiting board needs to be updated. We may still be the leader because FSU has not offered yet but that is what he is waiting on according to some of the recruiting experts. --------------------------------------------- --- AlreadyHome wrote: According to our board, we are the favorites but FSU could steal him. Keller Cryst, Caleb Henderson, Kyle Allen, and Drew Barker. Not saying we are a favorite for any but we are listed in the interest list for each. Good sign.

Those guys are not coming to UNC. Maybe an outside shot at Barker, but he will likely go big ten. Bet he ends up at Ohio State. McClendon will be our QB next year. Probably better arm than Grier, but immobile. Another TJ.

RE: 2014 Recruiting Updates
Drew Barker is looking for an OSU offer. If he gets it, he's most likely will commit to them. Other schools strong with him are South Carolina and Tennessee. As of right now, he wants to commit by either mid March or April.

Re: 2014 Recruiting Updates
I know he's considering us but is it time to find another option?
It's still very early in the recruiting process for 2014 ESPN Watchlist member Mark Andrews (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain). The 6-6 wide receiver already has 15 scholarship offers which range from the Pac-12 to Notre Dame. But the very early leaders for Andrews appear to be his home state schools, Arizona and Arizona State.
"The in-state schools have been great," Andrews told Michael Luke of WildcatAuthority.com. "You can tell both programs are heading in the right direction with their new coaching staffs. Both programs are recruiting me really hard and I'm going to give both a real look."
While the local schools may have an early lead, Andrews will weigh all of his options. He also holds offers from Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma and a handful of ACC schools.
"I'm completely open to every school," Andrews said. "A lot of pretty good schools are interested, so I don't want to name a list because I don't want to forget anyone."

Avery Edwards should be our guy, and hope we land him. He will probably end up in the top 25 at TE in 2014. Goes to a strong academic high school, and is in our back yard.

Where do we stand with Avery? I know he's considering up but do we have a 3rd options as he has 6 offers now.

Re: 2014 Recruiting Updates
Don't know. For what it's worth, 247sports thinks our chances with him are very good. Also, I have to believe that any quality TE would take us seriously. Ebron set a record for catches last year, and could enter the NFL after another year. Fitz has left. Any TE in the 2014 class is probably looking at playing time no later than 2015.

I think Edwards would fit great in our system because he is more of a receiving TE then blocking. I believe he had played WR until last year so he should be a guy we could use effectively at TE.

It seems like we recruit for speed and match up problems. Like we have a RB we are offering a WR scholarship. It's smart if you ask me b/c if the other RB's get hurt then you already have someone else who can play that position.

That is the great thing about Switzer too. He can play receiver or help us out at running back. Logan should also be able to play multiple positions in our offense.

Re: 2014 Recruiting Updates
Perhaps, we can compete with Notre Dame being that Hood wants to play RB rather LB. I am hearing in the Charlotte market that his father wants him to play for Notre Dame; however, I'm seen him at the Wake game in Winston-Salem and on numerous occassions on Chapel Hill. So, I know that there is a strong interest in UNC Football! --------------------------------------------- --- spacemt1 wrote: RB/LB Elijah Hood has been moved back to RB per IC Recruiting Board: northcarolina.scout.com/a.z?s=...amp;nid=5928543---------------------------------------------

Re: 2014 Recruiting Updates
I understand the allure of places like ND and OSU, which are the two I think that are genuine threats. But Hood would have 4 4* RBs in the two previous classes ahead of him at ND and three at OSU. He might not play there for a few years. He will play early here, particularly since we will need a big back. Also, I note that six of the top 25 rated RBs for 2014 list ND and 5 list OSU.

Maybe they will get a few more early RB commitments to help us out with Hood. I think ND is recruiting him as a LB though if I'm not mistaken.

the logic is grand....however...look at last years class...gurley and marshall both go to georgia with crowell there....yes crowell was dismissed but he wasnt when they committed and signed....good players dont worry about competition...they all think they are great...they think they can beat out any player and play anywhere.....which is a great attribute btw

Re: 2014 Recruiting Updates
I understand of course, but it is illogical. Has nothing to do with fear of competition. I am sure that more 4* players will not play at ND than UNC and that the average 4* player at UNC will play earlier. While there are many variables in why decisions are made, if there is a personality trait that is identified by the choice, it is between the person attacted by mystique and emotion versus the person attracted by logic. There are more of the former than the latter, in football as elsewhere.

Where do we stand with Mr. Clark? I seems like he may be more in for the Hurricanes.
The University of Miami is sitting in a good, early position for 2014 standout defensive tackle Khairi Clark from Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade Madonna.

I don't know the answer to that, however I believe we will target Andrew Brown and Ricky Walker moreso than Clark.
