Have I missed something or is the IC staff being way too optimistic about the Heels chances with receivers? Trevion Thompson at 2 helmets?

I read somewhere that we are not among the lead two with him right now. That has been several weeks ago though so maybe something has changed since then.

Re: 2014 Recruiting Updates
Guys I think we have a great shot at getting Brown. He grew up a Tar Heel fan and so is his dad which always helps. If we continue to show improvement we could have a really good 2014 recruiting class.
Grier has Florida as his #1 with us at #2. We have a lot of talent already on our team at QB which might hurt us but hopefully Grier will be able to look past that.

Obviously, Brown and Grier would be huge gets. But we really need 3-4 big time commits at DB and LB next year.

true. we also should shoot for one big time commit per year at DE and DT. some with OT and OG. the trenches, man. the trenches.

Re: 2014 Recruiting Updates
Absolutely. Gio is great but he did not do it on his own. And Renner was not sacked too often this year. If we can pull and surprise and land Crowder this year and then get Spain plus one next year, our line will continue to produce. A Brown, Webb, Drennon, Dinkins and Jones haul over two years would not be a half bad start on the DL, and there is still a chance at a few other big names next year. Hand, while possible, is too much to believe. But Register or Sawyer, maybe so.

Re: 2014 Recruiting Updates
Just noticed some changes on the 2014 board. Lloyd has been moved to CB and Berrios is now only listing us, rather than showing us as his favorite. As to Berrios, anyone know what is happening here? Does this mean that he has backed away from us or have we backed away from him?

Don't think it means anything just yet. Berrios is still a priority in this class, and UNC will go after him.

He almost committed to South Carolina a few weeks ago and they look to be the leader for him.

Re: 2014 Recruiting Updates
I saw him play last week against my high school. He didn't play too often on D, but on offense he played a lot.
Here's my take on what I saw: Usually, when I watch highlights, I say "oh, ok...well they're called 'highlights' because they ONLY show the good plays." When I watched this kid I saw a MANimal...he reminded me of the running back that I played with in high school, Walt Horne. We had three plays: Walt Left, Walt Right, and Walt Up the Middle. That is pretty much how they did us the entire game. I left in the BEGINNING of the 3rd and the score was 41-7. And Statesville has a few 3 or 4 star recruits, so they were playing some ball players. So to answer your question, this guy is a monster of a RB, and he's only a junior. (We should also take a look at their kicker. I only saw him on kickoffs and XPs - because they always scored TDs, no field goals - but the XPs looked like they could be good for 50, and HE looked like an LB)

He was in Clemson this past weekend. I know he likes South Carolina a lot. Ohio State also could get into the picture.

How many DT's are targeted a year?

Re: 2014 Recruiting Updates
If we don't get Adams or Reed I would rather see us wait and go after a big name DT next year. Maybe instead of reaching for a DT this year we could continue to try to flip other great committed recruits that teams are going through coaching changes.

I haven't seen no videos on Wilkins but based off of his ranking I would hope we would take him too. He has great size which you have to like.

He picked Virginia over us but he is having second thoughts since the two guys that recruited him the most were fired. He is planning to visit but I still think he favors Virginia right now. He also has visits planned for a couple more schools.

We are not in TE Jeb Blazevich's final six according to 247soprts.com. Not a surprise since he has had his eyes fixed on playing out of state.

It seems like ND would have the slight edge because of their academics and his idol went there (Justin Tuck). Time will sure tell when he cuts the list. At least, we are close and have excellent academics.

Fedora was on SA campus this week visiting Lloyd and Anderson came last week to watch Lloyd in a basketball game.
