Who is pressing hard after Johnathan Howard? 24/7 says some SEC schools are going hard after him.

I believe Auburn is one of them and I'm not sure about the other. I would guess maybe Tennessee if they lose out on North but I don't know. I also think Clemson will make a run at Howard before it's all said and done.

Anyone with an eye for talent will be trying to get Howard to switch. He's going to be a very good player before it's all over.

Re: 2013 Recruiting Updates

UPDATE: Ole Miss is still in the hunt to land five-star defensive end and Auburn commit Carl Lawson (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton). Lawson appears to be interested in the Rebels due to one person, the nation's. No. 1 recruit Robert Nkemdiche (Loganville, Ga./Grayson).

"Nkemdiche is going to sign with Ole Miss, from what I understand, and Carl is taking a visit to Ole Miss," Milton coach Howie DeCristofaro told Michael Carvell of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "Can you imagine both of them on the same defensive line?"

The insinuation is that Lawson could follow Nkemdiche to Ole Miss and form dynamic bookends. Ole Miss shouldn't be underestimated in the pursuit of Lawson as a result.

---

UPDATE: Carl Lawson has yet to decommit from Auburn which could be a good sign for the Tigers. But Auburn isn't out of the woods yet.

"Carl Lawson is reevaluating Auburn, but Ole Miss, Tennessee and Clemson are making a big push. Officials will be important," ESPN.com's Kipp Adams tweeted.

Tennessee is the latest addition to Lawson's list of possibilities after the hire of Butch Jones. If Jones moves Tennessee back to a 4-3 front like he employed at Cincinnati, then the Volunteers will need immediate help at defensive end. The instant impact Lawson could make in Knoxville is likely appealing to the five-star defender.

---

Defensive end Carl Lawson is the crown jewel of Auburn's 2013 recruiting class -- if he remains committed to the Tigers. It may be only a matter of time before Auburn loses Lawson's commitment,

"Multiple sources are saying it's more 'when' than 'if'and that Clemson and Ole Miss are lurking," Mike Farrell of Rivals.com wrote. "However, a great defensive line hire by Auburn could change all of that."

Re: 2013 Recruiting Updates

It's official - the rumblings about Summers not qualifying are true, and he will head to JUCO.

That opens an "extra" spot, although if you've been following along you know that spot has been open for about a month now.

Not sure what Taylor's results were, but I don't know if they have been promising either.

With one (possibly two) spots open, that leaves two (possibly three) scholarships open for 2013. North already has one earmarked, and if he doesn't take it it's a safe assumption that Alston would fill in. Same with Lawson/Reed. Who gets that potential last one? Logic says it's probably Reed should he jump back on board and Lawson commits, or possibly new PWO Dominique Green gets a scholarship.

I'm not positive what if anything it means, but QB James Summers has been taken off the IC Recruiting Board, however DE Monte Taylor is still listed as a Committment.

Re: 2013 Recruiting Updates

I believe 4 star Tim Harris still has an official visit planned to UNC so maybe we can flip him from Virginia. I believe 5 star Adams is still a possibility for an official too although I'm sure he is a long shot. We may try to take another OT if we could get a guy like Golson and WR Coley and Clark still could be options.

Re: 2013 Recruiting Updates

Our MOST Realistic Options are:
1)WR North
2)DT Reed
3)DE Lawson
4)DT Wilkins
5)WR Alston
6)DT Adams
Alston may actually be a greater possibility than Lawson or Wilkins although he may need to Prep.

I think we end up with North and Reed!!!

I'd be very happy with that. Idk, I just don't feel like we will get North now that it has gone on for this long... but Fed will not be out-worked.

Re: 2013 Recruiting Updates

If it's true that Carl Lawson will be visiting on the 25th than I think that the visit helps us as much as it can. I feel like being the last or one of the last schools a recruit visits gives those teams advantages because it is the last think he thinks about. Unlikely we get him, but I credit Fedora for not shying away from attempting to get a big time recruit.

Re: 2013 Recruiting Updates

North has eliminated 1 of his 3 finalist it appears, and it appears that UNC is not one of them. I have a feeling it is going to go down to UT and UNC. I still give us the slight edge. North knows our coaching staff and knows he can trust them...and UNC has been recruiting him the hardest all along.

Come on North....your name was made for UNC Football. Trust Fed and know you'll be lights out here with our outstanding QB core and offensive scheme.
