Maybe during this time North is waiting to decide, he could give Lawson and Adams a call to help them find their way up 95 or 85 North to UNC.

Re: 2013 Recruiting Updates
Could this help us with North?
ESPN.com recruiting expert Sam Khan, Jr., reports that ESPN 300 wide receiver Dominic Walker (Orlando, Fla./Maynard Evans) will announce his commitment today. "I'm considering Nebraska, Florida State and Cincinnati," Walker said.
It's not a sure thing, though, that the wideout will wind up at one of those schools. "Walker noted that even when he announces his commitment, he'll still listen to other schools possibly up until national signing day," Khan writes. "Tennessee is a school that could potentially be a landing spot. The Volunteers offered Walker even before [Butch Jones] arrived as the head coach and his presence in Knoxville, Tenn., doesn't hurt in Walker's eyes."

Looks like Wilkins isn't sure if he will make his visit to Chapel Hill the 11th. I bet he stays with Virginia whether he takes his visit or not and Miller also looks like a long shot at this point. Hopefully we can some how get Lawson and Adams on campus and land one of them. We need more impact players on our defensive line and either one of them could provide that.

So this kid is gonna commit, but then openly says he will still be listening to various recruiting pitches, etc. Doesn't this sound like a grab for attention then?

Kids are so dumb. Why even commit in the first place? Puts the school in a hard position by taking up one of their open slots, when they could be concentrating on another kid. Also effects other potential commitments.

I don't think the kids are doing anything irrational at all. The mistake is in your/our interpretation of the word "commitment" - a verbal is not a commitment at all, more like a stated leader. If you stop using the word, their actions will make a lot more sense to you.

Re: 2013 Recruiting Updates
There is no ambiguity in the word commitment. I understand it is a complex process and it is a huge decision to make when you are a young man, but they have the option to differentiate between leaders and a commitment.

Re: 2013 Recruiting Updates
U serious? You can name a school your leader. Is that the same thing to you as the word "commitment"? It's two completely different things. I guess it's okay to tell someone you're committed to them, and then go stick your wick in anything that moves, because what you meant was they are your number 1 option, you're still considering others, though.

Re: 2013 Recruiting Updates
I understand that the completion of additional courses were an issue a few months ago when he was considering both UNC and Ole Miss; however, he committed to Ole Miss due to the university's lower standards and immediate enrollment.
From previous discussions on the board, Jarran would need to compete approximately three (3) courses to be takened at a community college or perhaps, at UNC during summer school.
Hopefully, Jarran has decided to bite the bullet in completing the courses to qualify for enrollment at UNC. He skills are greatly needed on the defensive line and would fulfil an opportunity for his family in Goldsboro, NC to watch play on most Saturdays in comparison to a flight or drive to Mississippi. --------------------------------------------- --- spacemt1 wrote:

Maybe North but I'm not sure about that the more I read what people has said about his recruitment. I would love to get Adams and Thomas. Some of those other guys are moving in other directions. If we don't get North, we may get Alston, who has set up an official visit.

Re: 2013 Recruiting Updates
Appears Summers and Taylor are not going to qualify more than likely, so two more schollies are going to open up in their place.
Coleman I'd imagine is going to have one of those spots reserved for him once he gets on campus. So, we have two more spots open it seems.

northcarolina.scout.com/a.z?s=...amp;nid=6289640Has a visit set for Jan. 18, 2013. Taking officials to Kentucky and Florida as well. We definitely have room for him if he decides to recommit. Just hope if he does recommit he COMMITS and makes it to campus unlike that player who kept going back and forth between us and UCLA a few years back. He has just as good of a shot getting to the pros through UNC than he does anywhere else, and we sure as hell could use him. --------------------------------------------- --- spacemt1 wrote: I'm sorry there is no link, but according to 247sports.com Ole Miss and Former Carolina pledge DT Jarran Reed has set an official visit with the Heels!!!!!! ---------------------------------------------

Re: 2013 Recruiting Updates
Lawson is a long shot.....
UPDATE: Tennessee is certainly a legitimate possibility to land five-star defensive end and Auburn commit Carl Lawson (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton).
"(Recent Tennessee commit Ryan) Jenkins also is close friends with another of Tennessee's top targets, coveted defensive lineman Carl Lawson," John Brice of VolQuest.com noted. "The two were teammates at Milton High School in Alpharetta before Jenkins closed out his prep career with his standout 2012 season at Lassiter.
Said Jenkins, "I'll reach out to him, but I want him to go where he is happy."
---
UPDATE: Carl Lawson has yet to decommit from Auburn which could be a good sign for the Tigers. But Auburn isn't out of the woods yet.
"Carl Lawson is reevaluating Auburn, but Ole Miss, Tennessee and Clemson are making a big push. Officials will be important," ESPN.com's Kipp Adams tweeted.
Tennessee is the latest addition to Lawson's list of possibilities after the hire of Butch Jones. If Jones moves Tennessee back to a 4-3 front like he employed at Cincinnati, then the Volunteers will need immediate help at defensive end. The instant impact Lawson could make in Knoxville is likely appealing to the five-star defender.
---
Defensive end Carl Lawson is the crown jewel of Auburn's 2013 recruiting class -- if he remains committed to the Tigers. It may be only a matter of time before Auburn loses Lawson's commitment,
"Multiple sources are saying it's more 'when' than 'if'and that Clemson and Ole Miss are lurking," Mike Farrell of Rivals.com wrote. "However, a great defensive line hire by Auburn could change all of that."
