Re: 2013 Recruiting Updates
I don't see Wiggins de-commiting. I do think, however, that if we don't pick up a DT, or if our Hargrave preps can't qualify, we will go for more secondary, and he will be a good one if VK personally picked him out considering VK knows exactly what he needs to make his D work. --------------------------------------------- --- spacemt1 wrote: If Korrin Wiggins de-commits look for us to get this guy: northcarolina.247sports.com/Ar..._medium=twitter247sports.com/Player/Malcolm-Means-25767---------------------------------------------

Would he fit our style of play? Re: 2013 Recruiting Updates
I can pretty much guarantee you that the staff won't spend a scholarship on a player that can not play for a year. Not when we are down 5 off the bat. He would probably have to be willing to walk on for a year, and that is probably a long shot. --------------------------------------------- --- spacemt1 wrote: After sitting out a year, he could fit our staff's idea of having a bigger back, if they want him!!!!! --------------------------------------------- --- ShadowSpawne wrote: --------------------------------------------- --- AlreadyHome wrote: Would he fit our style of play? Id say no just for the fact he picked Iowa over us from the start. Can see him going maybe to Penn St. since that is close to home and was high on his recruitment list. --------------------------------------------- --- ShadowSpawne wrote: I can pretty much guarantee you that the staff won't spend a scholarship on a player that can not play for a year. Indeed. I think UNC would be able to add at least 2 more guys on top of the 20 they're expected to take.

Or that Logan will be in the rotation at A-Back. Or special teams. The best players will always play under Fedora, and Logan walks onto campus as one of the 5 best home run threats on this football team.

Any one have any updates on Marquez North Carolina? Fedora and Brewer were in Charlotte the other day to watch a Bobcats game, and I don't see them going to Charlotte without dropping by to say hello to Marquez North Carolina.

I know he had an in home visit with Butch Jones and will take a visit to Tennessee. I still think we are his leader but look for Clemson and Tennessee to try to make a strong late push for him.

Re: 2013 Recruiting Updates
Yeah, I knew about Jone's visit and I figured he would take an official to Tennessee. He had previously mentioned about going back to Clemson for an official, so that comes as no surprise.as.well. I know he came here unannounced (I guess?) last Saturday to see a BB game, which was good to see him do. Gives you an idea where his head is. I know he has mentioned Carolina feeling like home to him, so hopefully he decides to come here and play. Carolina (and Brewer) has a good history of getting receivers to the pros. I know Fedora has made him a top priority.

If he is only 160 lbs. as stated on another thread he will need a year to mature and get bigger whether at A-Back or RB, see Kedrick Davis for example #1!!!!

Sort of. UNC can still only take 20 recruits in this class and in next year's class, but it does provide an opportunity for a walk-on or other player to earn that scholarship.

Is there a loop hole where you can get a kid to commit, have him arrive on campus as a walk on, and then give him a scholarship?
Not sure it would be the smart thing to do, but seems like it could be possible. Malcolm Means, for instance.

Re: 2013 Recruiting Updates
IMO, I think Morris and Logan will be the forerunners for RB with Morris getting majority of the touches. IF we get North, we could have one of the best, if not the best WR core in all of college football. We will have Q. Davis, M. North, TJ Thorpe, Ryan Switzer, Tapley and a slue of young guys who could step up we just havent seen them yet, with D. Washington, K. Davis. Jordan F. and J. Howard. That is just the true WR. Ebron, Tabb, and Knox will be down the field too.
I think next year will be more of a pass-first offense just because we could be loaded with receivers.

Ryan Switzer is cancelling his visits to FSU and Kentucky according to Espn. He won't take any more visits, and says that he is excited to win ACC Championships for years to come. Nice to hear that he is all in for Unc and is excited to win.

Which recruits are planning to enroll in January? And when they do enroll, they are essentially "signed," even though it's before official signing day. Is that correct?

I think Clemson will probably have a better receiving core then us but we will definitely be one of the best. Clemson has done a really good job of recruiting receivers the last couple of years.

My bad on Summers I saw Jan. under his name and thought it was for enrollment. I see now that was when he committed but I thought at one point he was trying to enroll early. I saw Taylor's name on a lot of sites but it was inside stuff so I couldn't read it but I figured something was going on with him.
