What about Matthew Thomas, ESPN has him considering us but not offering him, I'm not sure what it means. espn.go.com/college-sports/foo.../matthew-thomas

Re: 2013 Recruiting Updates
Just read on ESPN that Korrin Wiggins is considering OSU, UNC, and Clemson. By the sound of it, he is definitely not committed to Carolina. My question is would it be that bad if he went elsewhere considering that we don't have a lot of scholarships and could possibly land some big time recruits. I never want to say that we don't want a recruit, but we just don't have scholarships and I think we're ok at the rb position.

Um…what? Wiggins plays DB. I'll take all the help UNC can get in the defensive backfield. Wiggins would be a welcome addition.

My bad. I thought he was a rb. It doesn't change the question as to if it would be better if he stayed committed or if we could use another spot for guys like North, Adams, Golson, Lawson, and Crooks. Most of those guys are long shots, but you never know.

If we only had one scholarship spot left I would rather have any of those guys over Wiggins.

Anyone have any knowledge whether Golson is a genuine possibility now after his visit? Premium board ran the "exceeded expectations" post I have become accustomed to, but wonder if that is the normal politically correct line uttered by recruits or whether it has substance.

Re: 2013 Recruiting Updates
I think this is a tough question. Impossible to say how good a kid like this will be at the college level. We know he has potential, but let's face it, most kids do not turn out to be difference makers. We certainly need safeties, but we need safeties who will make a difference. If Wiggins drops us and we get Alston for example as an athlete, I am not sure we have lost anything. Having said this, if we end up losing a kid or two, Wiggins is not one who would be at the top of my list as a guy we could live without. I will spare you my list.

I generally don't read into anything about "exceeding expectations."
Now if it says "UNC in Golson's Top 3", then I'll play more attention.

I always love to see us bring in good recruits at offensive and defensive line. If you have a good offensive and defensive line you can usually stay in any game.

I am aware of that 63, and also aware that he is the only OT recruit FSU has right now, and that FSU's OL depth looks no tougher than our own. I know he is looking at us and Alabama, but wonder whether he is truly serious or not.

On ESPN, I read that TJ Logan has received a lot of interest after his state performance from state, ohio st, and he'll visit WV. Nothing to be worried about. Just thought it was interesting how much attention he has gotten from his state game.

If I were a committed recruit and knew for certain where I wanted to play, I would probably still use my remaining visits. You know it would be fun.

Re: 2013 Recruiting Updates
Yeah I mean you only get to do something like that a couple of times and official visits are payed for by the school. It sucks from a fans point of view but for the player I'm sure they enjoy themselves on these visits.

RE: 2013 Recruiting Updates
We have virtually no shot with Miller unfortunately. He wants to play DE, not DT. He'll end up at Wake or Maryland more than likely...with Wake being the most likely imho.
So, that leaves us with Donta Wilkins, who build wise is built better for the interior. Would be a very pleasant surprise to get him to flip his commitment.

RE: 2013 Recruiting Updates
I saw an article on Miller last week where he said he would rather play DE so I figured our chances might be slim with him. I think Reed is a little better then Miller but I think Miller could have been a pretty player. Like you said I think he ends up at Wake.
I like Wilkins too but I still think he favors Virginia so we really need to impress him on his visit to change his mind. I'm still holding out slim hope we can get an official visit from Adams but I doubt that will happen.
If we miss on Adams and Wilkins I hope we just go with what we have at DT this year and recruit DT really hard next year. Unless of course another really good DT comes available. I just hope we don't reach for someone and it come back to bite us since we have limited scholarship offers available.

RE: 2013 Recruiting Updates
Maybe we could possibly nab Derrick Calloway. He has good size. Texas Tech is his fav, but since Tuberville left and Chad Scott was his recruiter and he's likely going to end up at Kentucky, and Calloway was a teamate of Clint Heaven who is with us now, we might be able to get him up here as well. So, there is hope for us to land a solid DT this class. Just going to take some hard work mixed with a little luck.

Yes, he would be at the head of the class but for some reason, we are always getting the 2nd tier players. They do turn out of have all the intangibles though.
