The problems with lists like these is they are written by fans, and not coaches. Fans - and make no mistake about it, the writers at every one of these sports publications are fans - have their own beliefs as to what constitutes a desirable coaching job, and they'll be glad to argue till the cows come home just how "obvious" their opinions are. But until they actually poll coaches, they'll never know what coaches really want.

According to reports and scuttlebutt, Butch Davis twice turned down Tennessee, and Larry Fedora just did the same. And they did this, despite offers of much higher salaries. But now, Tennessee is listed as a more desirable coaching job than Carolina?? Clearly, the direct available evidence doesn't support it.

This article is probably at least 4 years old, it was in an athlon magazine I bought the year before T.J Yates's junior season... Either that or they directly word for word. The only one I read was Carolina's, BTW.

There is some interesting information in the article.

It was published in the 2010 edition. Some of the rankings have shuffled. (UNC was #23) A few minor changes have been made, but it is mostly word for word as you said.
