Sly Williams at the combine is inspiring.

Sly Williams at the combine is inspiring.

Listening to his interview I learned much more about his path to an education and his story is all the validation needed for college sports.
To show at a coaches door without even an invitation and EARNING a position on the team the hard way, by doing it on the field and in the class. He is a magnificent representative for UNC and collegiate sports. The NCAA should make him a spokes person.

Great for him! But I hope he doesn't waste any time and effort representing the NCAA.

His story is what college football is all about when it is living up to its ideals.

He is the poster child for "NEVER, EVER GIVE UP." I love this guy's story.

RE: Sly Williams at the combine is inspiring.

When some members of our faculty get all elitist and talk about how "marginal students" or "academic exceptions" shouldn't be let in, they should think about what Sly has accomplished. I guess they feel there is no benefit to the college experience for students that don't measure up to their standards.

I know plenty of people with good brains and strong academic backgrounds that flunked out of UNC for a variety of reasons unrelated to their SAT scores or grades. I have much more respect for a kid that has to work hard to accomplish something than one to whom things come easy but who lacks the self-discipline to be successful.

Of course they did, after all, it's family affair and they are everyday people.

Yeah, I'll bet he'll be awesome barring injury. He's a different breed.

Did they bring Visine, Nacho Cheese Doritos, and Big Gulps of Hawaiian Punch?
