Jay Graham leaves Tenn. for FSU

Jay Graham leaves Tenn. for FSU

I wonder what Mr. North thinks about this since Graham was mentioned as his primary recruiter and a big reason he chose UT.

Options to become Vols' next RBs coach By Brent Sobleski | ESPN.com

Tennessee head coach Butch Jones will scramble to replace running backs coach Jay Graham with less than two weeks remaining before the Volunteers open spring practice. Graham accepted a position with Florida State leaving a void on Tennessee's staff.

A pair of names familiar to Jones could be the first two candidates under consideration.

The first option has a history coaching for Jones.

"One name to keep in mind is former Cincinnati running backs coach Roy Manning," Chris Price of InsideTennessee.com wrote. "A former Michigan Wolverine, Manning spent four seasons in the NFL with various teams before returning to the college game in the coaching ranks. He is currently employed at Northern Illinois."

Manning was Jones' running backs coach last season.

Another candidate that applied for a previous opening on Tennessee's staff could also work his way into the picture.

"One potential candidate could be Des Kitchings, current N.C. State running backs coach and former Vanderbilt assistant, who earlier in this process had interest in the Vols' then-open wide receivers job," Brent Hubbs of VolQuest.com wrote.

Last I checked, UNC still has a scholarship with North's name on it if he reneges on his NLI.

If he reneges, does he have to sit out a year?

Do we even want someone that didn't think highly enough of us in the 1st place?

It's not about how he feels about it... It is all about how his daddy feels about it.

Gotta be something other than money. FSU only upped his salary 40K and UT told him no problem on matching that. Makes you wonder if he was getting along with the new staff.

I'm trying to figure out how this is even an issue. Whether Graham was a part of his recruitment or not, unless Graham was going to be his position coach, this is a non issue. More importantly, I've never heard a recruit come out and say they regret not going to UNC and that's not to say there aren't/haven't been regrets.

He did the same thing to ECU. He snagged a RB recruit away from us Jabo Lee the week of the signing period. Then bails to FSU. Lee will regret not coming to ECU.

Re: Jay Graham leaves Tenn. for FSU

It was probably too little too late. He was the second lowest paid coach on the staff? When the Big East coaches that came in with Butch Jones were making more money than Graham, and the AD didn't approve a raise for him at first, it must have left a bitter taste in his mouth.

Anyway, some people believe that Bama, UF, and FSU are desperate to establish a strong foothold into both North and South Carolina in recruiting, and that is why they have hired some strong recruiters originally at Clemson and South Carolina(Graham was at South Carolina before UT) who know the territory and have contacts.
