I agree with 1963. It wouldn't have been hard to comment on this without sounding so negative. It's like the faculty is doing athletics a favor by allowing this to happen...

I think that's a pretty silly argument to take with Dr. Boxill's words. The faculty has been pretty difficult about Thursday games and that it is even happening is pretty awesome. This is a positive statement, even if it isn't the one you want. She's a former college athlete and coach, worked the PA at women's games and a real ally to the athletes, football included, at UNC. You'll find the football guys in her classes have high praise for her.
Just be happy it is going to happen. Don't quibble over words.

"On behalf of the faculty, I appreciate the efforts by the Department of Athletics to minimize the disruptions on campus by working with all the affected constituencies in making arrangements for the Thursday night football game during Fall Break,"
Wouldn't it been nice if she had said:
"I am excited about the Thursday game and the exposure it will provide for our University. For there hours homes across the country will be our guest via the broadcast. This provides a unique opportunity to show off our campus to the rest of the country and around the world and I am excited by the opportunity it presents for the University."
Just saying, would that not have been much nicer?

2 ESPN games.... Nice... We could go 12-0 or 10-2. All our games are winnable with our huge core of guys back. We have a well balanced schedule. We have two nice gaps in games. We don't play on 9/14 or 10/12.
--------------------------------------------- All our games are always winnable. Let's fact it; there are a 1/2 dozen that we could lose. Memories of Wake and dook just last year!

That was my point. Thanks for making it better than I did. I think members of the University should support all aspects of the University and not be so negative.

Re: 2013 SCHEDULE
Is there anyone out there who would know how to create a calendar entry 'script' so we could add these to our calendars all at once..? Obviously I can enter them one at a time but thought there might be a simpler way.
Thanks in advance...

Re: 2013 SCHEDULE
By now, you probably have already entered them individually, but seems like last year someone had a script for Outlook that you could use. I have not seen one for Notes. Not sure what the other popular email programs are these days, but my guess is that it would be dependent on which email program you used.

RE: 2013 SCHEDULE RELEASED
3 tough games in the first 6, but with more that a week prep for all of those games except ECU. No extra break in the last 6, but that part of the schedule should be easier. It would be very nice to be at least 2-1 in the conference after UM.

Re: 2013 SCHEDULE
Go listen to Buck's podcast, it addresses how Bubba feels about the faculty and their "favor".
To pararphrase, he basically told them he wouldn't shut the campus down early and they can work till midnight on game day if they want, but we're having a football game and you can learn to love it.
I do wonder, though, what happens to all the Ram's Club parking that is in faculty lots (not a worry for me, I ain't at that level). --------------------------------------------- --- CornbreadandCollards wrote:

OK, Bubba. Now that ND is a done deal to ACC, dump that Old Dominion game for 11/23 and get ND on the schedule in Kenan.

Typical pre-season Pitt fans. Wait until 3 games in when they drop another game to a FCS team and see if that prediction doesn't change.

Re: 2013 SCHEDULE RELEASED
Middle Tennessee State crushed GT last year and then got snubbed from a bowl at 8-4. They return 17 starters and we play them after S. Carolina.
That could potentially be a trap game. They're not as terrible as we hoped they'd be when we scheduled them.

Doesn't the playoff system begins this year?
