Is Highsmith that bad?
He didn't even get an invite to the combine. I thought he was fairly decent.

Re: Is Highsmith that bad?
What do you mean "that bad"?
A lot of good college players don't get invites to the combine... Highsmith didn't have top tier talent but he was a good player for us.
He's a Heel which automatically disqualifies him from being characterized as "that bad".

Re: Is Highsmith that bad?
Highsmith was a productive four year starter for UNC. Bad players don't start for four years. He may or may not make a NFL roster but he was a very good college player.

Re: Is Highsmith that bad?
Don't get me wrong. I thought he was a good receiver. Combine worthy at the very least.
I was surprised he isn't getting more love from the draft process. Maybe UNC's Pro Day will yield some positive results.

RE: Is Highsmith that bad?
He was a good college possession receiver for us, and I'm proud of him. But he didn't even get a strong look from the mid-major in his back yard, ECU.

Re: Is Highsmith that bad?
Yeah, I'm kind of surprised he wasn't invited also. Of course, Highsmith has had the benefit of never being the #1 receiver so if the focus was on him as the main guy, I don't know how productive he might have been. Even last year, a freshman came in and really was our best receiver. But he's played 2nd fiddle to DJ or Greg Little his entire career. If he could never be the #1 at UNC, I don't know why folks just assume that he is cut out to be a WR at the NFL level. Of course, in 2008, we had three WR's drafted so it can happen, but I don't know if that is the norm. I DO agree with you that he should be able to get his opportunity at UNC's pro day.

Does he make a professional NFL team with his talent?

RE: Is Highsmith that bad?
i think he can make a roster but Highsmith doesn't have the speed to be a 1st or 2nd down receiver in the NFL

RE: Is Highsmith that bad?
BTW, I love Mookie. One of his HS coaches also coached my son at another stop on his coaching carousel. Same can be said for JMM of our hoops team.

Re: Is Highsmith that bad?
EH was very good at catching the ball, very bad at hanging on to it.

Re: Is Highsmith that bad?
He was a good receiver for us, but let's just say, several defensive backs made a lot of good plays in one on one situations, and even after Mookie had "caught" the ball. This probably helps in understanding pro potential; you've got to win most of those one on one matchups.

Decent college receiver. Not NFL material.

Unfortunately, I agree. Nice college player, someone who could make an impact, but not an NFL player.

Re: Is Highsmith that bad?
It was a little surprising. But it's a strong indication of the talent gap between college and pro players. He'll get his shot during pro day.
