UNC to Host Thursday Night Game in '13

ESPN will most likley prefer to have Miami than UVA...but I could be wrong...

Not sure they would match us up with UVA on Thurs. since we played them on Thurs this year plus I think Miami will have the better team this year.

If I was a recruit, I would see the changing atmosphere and commit, if UNC is where I truly wanted to be. I would not drag out my commitment. I would make sure I added in the committed recruitment section. I love it. Great day to have recruits in with their parents. It would be a hold day and night experience.

Let's hope that's all that blacks out! Last time I remember a section of lights going out. With the improved lighting, sound and Blue Zone addition, I'm thinking we should get a more positive review of Kenan stadium. Just need an impressive showing from Tar Hell fans and our boys in blue. Looks like ill be taking off thursday and friday that week be headed up from myrtle beach sc. One thing i did notice is that the SC game date still AUG 29th according to SC fans here that game is moved to 31st that sat. guess well see soon.

With only four home conference games this year, pretty easy process of elimination. Hard to believe that Dook would be willing to come play on Thursday night in Chapel Hill. I've had BC penciled in for Homecoming since they announced the matchups (unless they go the non-conference route which would be different). I initially thought that it would be UVA but Miami makes more sense seeing as ESPN will be trying to grab a national audience. Whether it's Miami or UVA I'll be excited and in attendance.
PS: This game would be PERFECT for a black-out or a white-out part II. I can't wait!

Probably but I think vs UVa and the "oldest rivalry in the South" would be a nice ACC story. Let's get away from it has to be FSU or Miami to make it a "national game".

Love the idea, but we need to figure out a way to do this on some Thursday that isn't over Fall Break. Large gaps in the student sections won't look great.

The last Thursday game against FSU was over Fall Break, and the student section was more packed than it had been any other game during my 4 years. Awesome game despite the loss. I've also always wanted someone to set it up so the students wear black shirts (or really dark navy blue shirts ala South Carolina game 2007). If we're going to call the student section the Tar Pit, it should look like a Tar Pit. I think that along with having alternating sections of strictly Carolina Blue and White would look awesome. What say ye?

No More Confusion: Per ESPN.com
North Carolina also has seven home games. The Heels host a Thursday night game for the second time in school history when they welcome Miami to Chapel Hill on Oct. 17 during UNC’s fall break.
They also open at South Carolina on Thursday night. North Carolina is 6-4 all-time on ESPN Thursday night games. Coach Larry Fedora says, "Opening the season on the road at South Carolina is a great motivator for our offseason workouts and provides us with a tremendous opportunity on national television. We’ll have a similar opportunity later in the season when we host the Hurricanes on Thursday night. The atmosphere in the Tar Pit will be electric and we need our fans to continue to make Kenan Stadium a difficult venue for all of our opponents.”
