RE: Gio runs 4.50
Just hope he can stay healthy and his skills will do the rest.

Re: Gio runs 4.50
NFL star tailbacks that I would put in Gio's profile (everydown backs around 5'9 ish and 215 lbs with good vision and balance):
Ray Rice - His combine 40 time was 4.44
Maurice Jones Drew - 4.39
Emmit Smith - 4.7
Doug Martin - 4.55
Gio is right in this wheelhouse. He's not a Chris Johnson type back with blazing speed he's more like the guys above.

Re: Gio runs 4.50
Mayock and other professionals have raved over Gio's combine, but I guess some people know more than the experts. And you're right AL, heard them mention Ray Rice and Gio comparisons. --------------------------------------------- --- AwesomeLawson wrote:

Re: Gio runs 4.50
Check out the little asterisks next to his results. See those top performers in the two shuttle categories?

RE: Gio runs 4.50
Before the combine, Gio was asked what he thought his time would be. He said 4.49.

RE: Gio runs 4.50
Bio will be fine. He does not have to place at the top of all the categories, he just has to do well. He already has a good reputation and everyone knows of his abilities. Hopefully he goes somewhere that will utilize him well and has a good line to protect him and open up holes for him so he doesn't get hurt. I think that is what we all wish for when a player leaves the school that we love. I am a Husker fan as well, and don't watch Pro football as much, but I hope that Burkhead goes somewhere, the same as Gio, to a team that knows how to use him.

What makes Gio elite is his Vision and his Patience with Blockers, as well as his cutting ability!!!!!

His speed and quickness are excellent, but his low center of gravity makes him truly elite.

Re: Gio runs 4.50
Check your math. Last time I checked a faster mph would yield a lower elapsed time.

A 4.4 40 requires an average speed of 18.2 mph. Burst is higher of course.
A 4.53 is somewhere around 18.5 mph average. That is a .13 second difference....Yep. He slow. I mean...210lbs running at 18 mph is not elite material...
So, Einsteins....what we are talking about here is trivial and bottom line doesn't mean crap on the football field.

RE: Gio runs 4.50
His 4.53 was faster than most, and probably not much different than GMs and scouts expected. His shuttle times were both top three.

RE: Gio runs 4.50
Just guessing I'd say his height and injury history will push him into the middle or late second round, but if he stay's healthy whoever gets him will never quit looking back and thinking how lucky they were! As for his speed, in one of the radio segments one of the analysts said something similar that there was an opinion that Gio wasn't blazing, straight line fast, and added "but how many times have you seen someone catch Gio from behind?"
