B1G & SEC Expansion....

B1G & SEC Expansion....

According to WVU "insider" MHVer, it coincides with his report of UNC &UVa denying a GoR.

I didn't believe WinchesterBUCK when he was on here saying UNC was going to the Big 10 but maybe he was onto something.

From a SEC perspective I don't like the idea of losing UNC to the Big 10 at all, take fwiw:

"No exact dates because info not known yet. I doubt the conferences and schools involved know the exact dates.

This is all as of how things are going right now.

Yesterday: UVA turns in their completed application to the Big10

Sometime in March: UNC will do the same(90%sure on this)

Late April: BiG will invite UNC and UVA and they will accept

May: will be the month of the $hitstorm. An every man for himself free for all
That will lead directly into:

June: Big12 issues at least 2 invitations but up to 6 depending on many variables
SEC also invites 2 more schools

July: Big10 will invite ND as a partial member with fb membership pending the split".

Re: B1G & SEC Expansion....

Then "The Dude" of WVU follows up with an update on NCState:

"NC State has begun reaching out to other conferences - sending out feelers to the SEC, Big 12 and Big 10".

I am glad we are finally throwing out firm dates. Lol. Maybe there will be some accountability like when the dude from WVU said Clemson and FSU to the Big 12 was imminent. Wait, Nevermind.

Re: B1G & SEC Expansion....

I would not concern yourself over any of this news. Expansion theorists have a very low rate of success with their predictions. Additionally all news "leaked" (or made up) comes from a B1G or Big XII perspective. These foil hat wearers like to pretend that the B1G and Big XII will have their pick of the litter when it comes to ACC schools and even some SEC schools. (Yes, they are even saying Florida and Vandy will leave the SEC for the B1G).

This myopia is laughable. The SEC is not sitting by doing nothing while its fate is determined by other leagues. The SEC just doesn't foolishly share it's inner dealings with every moron on Twitter. The 2 BIGs like to pretend that the SEC is a lesser league and is pursuing NC State hard because it is so desperate for a 15th and 16th member. The SEC will wait for the right school, and not be forced to settle. NC State is not the SEC's first, second, third, or fourth choice from the ACC.

I just heard that the SEC will soon invite ECU in all sports, seemingly bypassing NC State's request.

This right here should be put up on billboards all over Raleigh.

Heads would spin around, and, the stuttering and stammering we normally get from those nutbars would quadruple.

Re: B1G & SEC Expansion....

Hang on no b10 fan I know said the b10 could grab vandy and uf...but a texas fan named tuxedo yoda speculated, saying he had no info, but based on criteria that vandy and uf were targets.....I stated indiana and minn would be in the ncg before uf or vandy leaves the sec. Would I like it sure.....but nobody thinks itsmemotely possible.

I've Had It.
Based on several factors, I've had a complete 180 happen in my opinion of being in the Big 12 since we kicked off against Baylor back in the Fall.

1. We are on an island and it doesn't appear to be changing anytime soon.
2. The way the basketball games are officiated is weak and hard to stomach. The whistles play far too big of a role in basketball in the Big 12.
3. Texas runs this conference. Yes, I know, they wanted us in this conference, but after that, they could not care less about us or anyone else for that matter.
4. We have no rival. We have played heated contests against every member of the Big 12 now, but there is no real rivalry brewing. Too much distance and no history. Playing someone not named Pitt during rivalry week is...well......wrong.

I'll admit it's better than being in the Big East. But that's it. I'm happy to be off the sinking ship, but I'm saddened where ol' WVU has found themselves: in a land where we are a stranger and kept at a distance, with officials that don't call the games with any consistency or care, and run by a school that's ego rival our former overlords in New England.

I'll get roasted for this, and it's not a popular opinion. And no, it's not because WVU is taking it on the chin once again. K-State, and most of the Big 12 are far better than we are in hoops this year. But the overall picture is bleak. Hopefully our recruiting class is a good sign, but it's hard to expect the downward trend to break in this league, where we simply do not belong.

Re: B1G & SEC Expansion....

B1G fan here. I'm surprised at the prospect of UVA and UNC heading to the B1G. Unlike the Rutgers fans who were overjoyed, and the Maryland fans that were split, Cavalier and Tar Heel fans are opposed to moving to the B1G almost to a man. I know there are a few that would like the SEC, but about 90% of your boards likes the conference status quo.

If the Irish were going to the B1G - it makes sense for both sides - there will only be room for one more team, which I expect would be UVA. Congruent borders is a must and UVA fits much of the B1G profile (even if there fans would rather stay ACC).

IF that happened, I think you'd see Va Tech & UNC added to the SEC in a heartbeat. Then, the B12 would pick the best 6 of the rest. We end up with 4 super conferences of 60 schools.

I'm not advocating the above scenario necessarily, it just seems like it could play out. I don't expect any moves until the Maryland/ACC suit is settled.

Re: B1G & SEC Expansion....

I've been an avid Carolina fan my entire life. I've got two degrees from UNC, and I've rarely missed a single home football game since the early '80's. But if Carolina were to ever go to the Big Tin, it would suck all the fun out of it for me.

Rather than snickering, people should read and carefully consider the disenchantment the WV fan feels after moving into the Big 12. Carolina fans will be in the same boat if we ever get stuck in the Big Tin, and having Virginia there won't be nearly enough to make it any more fun.

I can believe that we have an offer. Most think that us and UVA are th package out of the ACC. Now if we are likely to leave or anything like that..I don't think anyone knows. The people that do won't say anything. But I believe us staying in the ACC and leaving are about equal if other teams like UVA decide to go.

RE: Maryland Website....

so....

let me get this all straight.

A credible Maryland website, not a person on Twitter, makes a tweet about UVa, GaTech & UNC about realignment.

The ACC has already lost one member & trying to push 50+ million dollar penalties to anyone else who tries to leave.

This is a UNC & essentially a ACC board, I'm interested from the SEC angle as we're likely to receive two schools from this, I really want one to be UNC but ultimately I just want to see how it shakes out.

This is all UNC related on a UNC board & plenty of smoke surrounding the ACC right now, if it were me how would you not want to know what's out there over just putting your head in the sand or sweeping it under the rug & acting like nothing's there.

I hope like hell UNC would refuse the Big 10.

- Membership in the CIC

Other conferences? What other conference is going to shread the ACC? Please don't say the Big 12.

Just to answer this....sites don't produce facts. They get their facts from sources. And a Maryland site having a reliable source at Maryland doesn't even begin to suggest that it has a reliable source at Carolina or any other school.

Re: Maryland Website....

is there any reasonable belief that a web site not connected to Univ NC in any way...has more information than the people who attend/have attended and graduated from the university.
The only sense of frustration I find is that Swofford and conference have nothing in the recent past to speak positively of ....oh wait, PITT and 'CUSE in July...followed by Notre Dame albeit as an associate member and Louisville coming on board...not to mention that ACC schools now or in future beat Big 12 and SEC universities in bowl games...and an associate member was in the NC--and yes got killed but made it to the top 2........please, can we just enjoy being the ACC without being inundated daily with BS.? It's amazing that all these people have penis...no ACC...envy!
