i.e. dook endowment $ will now be spread not only to basketball and football referees, but also to NC football recruits.

Loved the VPI coaches response: dook has issued a warning; woopie doo.

Bet our coaches are shaking in their boots too.

dook's special season is a .500 record and a bowl loss...with one win over a team that finished with a winning record. Yep, I'll bet top recruits are queuing up all over America to get a piece of that action.

Skeered I betcha Coach Brewer is flat out skeered by the emergence of a former dook wide-out coming to take his candy.

I do not discount them, not one bit. Coach Cutcliffe staying IS a big deal. His name and reputation alone will at least get them into living rooms that none of their HCs since The OBC could get into.

LOL. Whatever dude. Put down the pipe. Until they update their facilities to meet the standard of a 4A high school, I'm not worried about bit.

Only 7 of 250 in North Carolina. Seems a bit low for our sized population and decent HS football. Plus discounting populated states like New York (pretty much NYC) that don't produce recruits in any numbers near their populations.

LOL...you're the one who might want to put down the pipe. Our program is nowhere near good enough at this point to where we can overlook anybody on our schedule. Including them. If you need proof, just check out the past decade's games. Its not like we are blowing them out every season.

They committed to keeping Coach Cut, which surely wasn't cheap. And, you can bet that his deal included the university making upgrades to their football facilities.

Who said anything about them being overlooked on a schedule? I never think anyone can be overlooked on a schedule (see App. State vs. Michigan AT Michigan). This thread is talking about RECRUITING. That's a WHOLE DIFFERENT BALLGAME. They are mere peasants on the recruiting trail compared to UNC.

I don't have a problem at all with this statement and it being made so public. In fact I believe this will help us in the long run. The more the schools locally focus on keeping these recruits in state the better it is for all of us. If the 4 major schools (UNC, DOOK, UNC-r, and Wake) focus on keeping these guys at home...well...I'll just say I like our chances of out recruiting any of them in terms of facilities, potential, and energy from our program. We win!!!!

I have told people for years, that dook CAN be good at football if they want to be. They have the money, about 50X over.

Re: Scottie Montgomery warns recruiters in North Carolina...

I guess spending money on recruits is cheaper than spending money on Wallace Wade Stadium.

Right now they can show recruits artist's renderings of what Wallace Wade MIGHT look like. And we can show them the KFC and Blue Zone, and indoor practice facility, one of the most beautiful campuses in the country and more "scenery" than they can shake their stick at! ;) If our coaches can't outrecruit dook on an annual basis, they don't deserve to coach at UNC!

bring 'em on.

After Common Vermin flames out as a wide receiver in the NFL will he also ride the backroads with Scottie throwing $$$ out the window of his Prius? Although he's a football guy and not a hoopster, I can't help but picture a guy named Common Vermin next to the Ratface on the bench in the Rathole. Decisions, decisions...

Re: Scottie Montgomery warns recruiters in North Carolina...

We'll get back to beating them annually this year and they will get back to being dook. End of story. This was their most experienced team and talented team in a long time and most of them are leaving. I don't expect them to exactly reload with a bunch of 2 and 3 stars. It's going to take time, a lot of it, for them to get back to where they were with the OBC.

There are no defensive linemen in the Beta Club*****.

Dook could be a winner if they player 7 on 7. That's what they should do.

****If they're smart enough to be in the Beta Club - they'll turn them into offensive linemen.

All joking aside
What are dook admissions standards?
How many top 15 players from NC would be admitted?- UNC has difficulty admitting many and doesn't even try with others
Is dook gonna take Hargraves graduates? I am thinking no....

Re: Scottie Montgomery warns recruiters in North Carolina...

dook University has tremendous resources, and a huge endowment. dook football has middling facilities, an apathetic fan base, and little success in the modern era. I respect what Cut has accomplished, and believe he's doing a great job in Durham. But there are too many obstacles between his program and sustained success--including a lack of resources--for him to get them to the point where they're going to be going to a bowl every year, let alone beating us for recruits. If dook could drop a pile of money into Wallace Wade and transform it into a state-of-the-art, 85K seat palace, they would. And recruits would come. They just don't have the ability to do so, or the fans to fill the place if they did.

"dook could drop a pile" -well phrased

dook belongs in a bowl, be it the elevated, handicapped variety or the elongated public restroom style. But make no mistake, dook belongs in a bowl, PERIOD.
