Re: Clowney's Head

I buy the "preference" package you are selling, Rev!

It accomplishes two desired things: 1) Watches Clowney's stock soar, and 2) Watches OBC's portfolio sink faster than a falling star.

RE: Clowney's Head

He would go from late January of 2013 to late July/Early August of 2014 without contact

You can't recreate that with training not to mention his live contact will go from playing college kids to the size and strength of grown men in the NFL. The speed would give him problems

I don't really understand this logic. So let's say Clowney sits out this year and prepares while everyone else plays. Draft day comes and goes, Clowney gets picked up along with a few hundred other rookies and camps begin in July. You're saying Clowney will be behind the guys who played the previous season but have been sitting on their butts for the last 7 months waiting for the NFL season to begin? So sitting from January through July doesn't impact the other guys, but Clowney sitting out a season does?

no, not playing fora year hurts big time, weight lifting and running dont get you into football shape in and of themselves, you really have to play it...I've never seen anyone skip a year and be ready to play.

I have a hard time buying the GM saying it hurts his stock. He would be more NFL ready because he could get into an NFL training regiment.

Only missing piece would be football action for a year. I am sure he could find ways to stay sharp technique wise (heck he could study NFL film all year as well and study his own playing film to learn what he needs to focus on development wise).

Players are out of game action for a year all the time with injuries and come back.

Reminds me of that hilarious wannabe society dame in "Keeping Up Appearances", Mrs. Bucket, pronounced "Boo-kay" according to her.

Personally I wouldn't worry too much about his head...

It's the rest of him that would concern me ;)

kev, the young man is a ridiculously gifted athlete, and I fully expect him to play. We've seen guys of his ilk in Chapel Hill:

Exhibit A: Lawrence Taylor

Exhibit B: Julius Peppers.
