Mike and Mike: morons

Not playing so no risk of injury. smart

Early in the show, they made it sound like it was his (clowney) thought not someone else's.

Re: Mike and Mike: Clowney not playing next season

Didn't Peppers do the same thing, took a lot of plays off his last year. Can't really blame this top 10 draft picks. The only thing is sometimes you increase your chances of injury by not playing hard. Hopefully he takes the entire UNC game off!

I hate this for college football, the future implications of this, but understand his decision and the fact that he is one of those "once in a decade" players. oh, and if true I love this for the Heels.

Wasn't this just a theory. He is going to play. I am pretty sure this was just conjecture.

This could hurt his Heisman prediction for next season.

RE: Mike and Mike: Clowney not playing next season

What a lazy post from the OP.

There is a difference between a hypothetical debate by two radio guys of Clowney should do and what he will do.

Just like there is a difference between these two headlines "S. Carolina Gamecocks’ Jadeveon Clowney should think about skipping 2013" and "S. Carolina Gamecocks’ Jadeveon Clowney is skipping 2013"

Re: Mike and Mike: Clowney not playing next season

A writer floated the idea of Clowney not playing, s oas to not risk injury a la Lattimore. Clowney has said no such thing. The OP is extremely misleading.

Re: Mike and Mike: Clowney not playing next season

This. They even said that it was extremely unlikely to happen, but it makes a lot of sense given the rules as constructed.

If the rules don't change, I'll bet it will happen at some point. Just the right business decision.

Right... That's how he was able to lead the #1 defense in the ACC, #15 national ranked defense, become a unanimous First-team All-America, First-team All-ACC, and win the Lombardi, Bednarik and Chevrolet Defensive POTY (all national awards) ALL of those things in his LAST year at Carolina... not to mention being the second player taken in the NFL draft.

You're right, Seahawk, he did all of that by taking plays off and conserving himself for the NFL... yeah. Sure.

He's playing, but they were discussing reasons why he wouldn't. I don't care either way. Bring em on!

I agree. However, the time is coming soon when the top high school BASKETBALL players will sit out a year to avoid huring their NBA draft stock.

RE: Mike and Mike: Clowney not playing next season

Not saying that it won't happen in the future, but basketball players typically don't get neck and spine injuries that prevent someone from walking. I understand it in football and totally would see it happening in football (and it being justified), but not so much in basketball. I'm sure there is an exception, but it seems to me that the worst injuries in bb are ACL tears and kids come back from those all the time in less than a year. I do recall the guard who went to LSU about 10 years ago and had repeated knee injuries while there and everyone thought he had ruined his career, but he actually managed to have a half decent NBA career (can't remember his name?).

That being said, if kids don't want to come to college, I don't think they should have to. The "one and doners" really just take four easy classes to stay eligible and then hang it up in January. What is the point? Let HS seniors go straight to the NBA if they want. I'd say the same thing for football also, but no NFL team would ever draft a 17 year old based on potential. And why would they when they have a three- or four-year commitment for each prospect to a FREE farm system in college football.

Just think the boost Hurst would get if he were to contain Clowney for the game.

Yeah, I've thought about that. Hurst could propel himself from being a likely 1st round pick to the #1 pick overall if he is to shut down or at least contain Clowney. I hope that he is relishing the opportunity.

Re: Mike and Mike: morons

Morons? I think they are genius!!! They got you and everyone talking about a topic that has ZERO chance of ever happening. Now you and others will be listening to the next thing "a moron" may say so they can run to a message board and post the next topic everyone will talk about. The Mike and Mike's agents must be counting the cash as we speak. And one being a Northwestern grad and the other a Notre Dame grad doubt either was ever a "moron".
